According to data compiled by NOL, NOL Interpark Tour and Triple Reservation, international travel bookings during the holiday season increased by 37% compared to the same period last year. Popular destinations include Osaka, Fukuoka and Narita, with the Osaka Nankai Rapi:t Limited Express train tickets being booked the most.
Meanwhile, Vietnam is popular for package tours. Five-day tours to Da Nang, Hoi An and Phu Quoc are the most popular, while the “sleeper bus” connecting Hanoi and Sapa is second in terms of bookings and activities.
According to the analysis data, Japan and Vietnam also ranked first in overseas accommodation bookings.
In addition to Japan and Vietnam, many other destinations were also chosen. For example, Taiwan (China) ranked third in terms of overseas accommodation bookings and flight bookings to Taipei increased by 78% compared to the same period last year. Accommodation bookings in the US increased by 2.3 times, ranking fourth, while package bookings to the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe increased by 105% and 809% respectively, showing the recovery of long-haul travel demand.
Domestic accommodation bookings also increased by 65% compared to the same period last year. Gangwon Province remained in first place with 18% of total bookings, while South Jeolla Province and North Gyeongsang Province increased by 131% and 124%, respectively.
A representative of Nol Universe said that this year’s “October Golden Week” continued to see Koreans’ preference for destinations in Japan and Vietnam. Meanwhile, domestically, eco-friendly accommodation is on the rise. The diversity of tourist destinations and accommodation types has diversified consumers’ selection criteria.
