Light up the passion: Encourage students' love of science

On September 22, at Trung Vuong Secondary School (Hanoi), the program "Lighting up passion" took place, organized by the Vietnamese Women's Museum and the Spanish Embassy in Hanoi.

The program has the participation of more than 3,000 students, through which the program aims to honor the scientific conquest journey of female scientists around the world, arouse and encourage students' love of science and pursuit of their dreams.

Principal of Trung Vuong Secondary School Nguyen Thi Thu Ha speaks at the program

Speaking at the program, Principal of Trung Vuong Secondary School Nguyen Thi Thu Ha shared: Lighting up passion is a special event, at Trung Vuong Secondary School many generations of students have become famous scientists domestically and internationally. Typically, the first female Vietnamese student to win a scholarship to study in France and later become a female Doctor of Mathematics, the first female Professor of Mathematics is Ms. Hoang Xuan Sinh, a female student of Trung Vuong. In addition, Ms. Duong Thi Cuong - the first Vietnamese to win the Kovalevskaia Prize in science, with her passion, conquered the pinnacle of science, contributing to the community, the nation and the world.

"Through this special program, we hope that students will reflect on and ignite their passion, explore learning in their souls so that each of us can persistently pursue that goal, and be disciplined so as never to stray from that goal" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha shared more.

At the program, there was an exchange activity "Science - unlimited journey" with special guest Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, the only female scientist of Vietnam selected in the list of young scientists - Young Affiliates (2024 - 2029) of the World Academy of Sciences (at Trung Vuong Secondary School).

Sharing at the program, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao expressed her joy at participating in the program to share and inspire the passion for scientific research to students. In the program, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao also shared about the journey that led her to the path of scientific research and to the success she has today.

Exhibition space "Escape Road - Journey to find future Nobel Prize-winning scientists"

Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said: "Science is not far away, it starts from what is very close around us. I believe that, among you here, there are many people who will write new scientific stories for Vietnam. Nurture your curiosity. Keep your passion. And live responsibly towards the community. Because science is not just formulas or numbers, but how we use knowledge to help people, to make the world better. Therefore, I hope you will have a lot of passion and enthusiasm on the path of learning and discovery ahead."

Also within the framework of the program, the exhibition "Escape Road - The journey to find future Nobel Prize-winning scientists" will take place. The exhibition introduces the journey of scientific discovery and contributions to society from the prestigious award-winning research works of 26 female scientists around the world who have won the Nobel Prize, Abel Prize, and Fields Medal.

Each person has a different journey to science, research in different fields, but they all have one thing in common: passion, dedication to science to build a better world. Their inventions are not only groundbreaking but also play an important role in practical life in fields from medicine (treatment of HIV, cancer, malaria), biotechnology (CRISPR-Cas9), quantum physics, lasers, to the molecular structure of life...

The exhibition conveys a strong message: "On the journey to conquer science, the limit is not in gender, but in faith and passion. Anyone can become a knowledge creator with enough passion and aspiration."

The event also included a scientific experience of STEM application products made by students of the school's STEM Club and an introduction of paintings inspired by portraits of scientists.

The program had the participation of more than 3,000 students.

The program "Lighting up passion" will continue to take place on September 29, 2025 at Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School (136 Xuan Thuy, Cau Giay, Hanoi)./.
