On October 8th, Mr. Duong Van Phuc, Director of the Department of Construction of Vinh Long province, stated that, following the directives of the Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Construction , the department has requested units managing and operating bus stations and parking lots, as well as commercial areas, apartment complexes, and communes/wards with parking lots in urban areas, to urgently implement the non-stop toll collection model.
According to the plan, by December 2025, all bus stations and parking lots in the province will have completed the installation of the non-stop toll collection system, ensuring that the progress assigned by the Central Government's Task Force for the Implementation of Project 06 is met.
The Department of Construction has also requested the People's Committees of communes and wards to coordinate with the owners of parking lots, and to cooperate with relevant agencies to inspect, review, and promptly rectify areas where implementation is slow. However, the implementation of the model still faces difficulties due to some small-scale parking lots with high installation costs, while there is only one technical consulting unit, limiting progress. In addition, many parking lots managed by the People's Committees of communes have small areas and inconsistent infrastructure.
The Department of Construction is requesting reports from relevant units to promptly propose solutions to ensure that by December 2025, 100% of bus stations and parking lots will have completed the implementation of the model. Currently, the Vinh Long Provincial Bus Station is under construction, including the investment in a non-stop toll collection system; the remaining units are surveying and selecting contractors for installation.
Currently, the province has 24 bus stations with approximately 3,200 passenger transport vehicles and over 4,600 cargo transport vehicles in operation. The implementation of non-stop toll collection is considered a step forward in building smart cities, improving traffic management, and enhancing transparency in transportation operations. This system helps reduce congestion at bus stations and parking lots, especially during peak hours, while saving time for citizens and businesses.
Simultaneously, the synchronized implementation of non-stop toll collection also helps to increase transparency in revenue sources, reduce losses, and improve the efficiency of public asset management, in line with the province's orientation towards developing digital infrastructure and digital transformation.
