VinUni promotes cooperation in research and innovation

VinUni University collaborates with the Department of Technology Application and Development ( Ministry of Science and Technology ) and Saïd Business School (University of Oxford) to promote innovation.

"This is VinUni's goal. Besides training talented individuals, we aim to create a social impact through research, innovation, and resource networking to serve socio-economic development and national sustainability," a representative from the university shared.

According to the cooperation agreement with the Department of Technology Application and Development, the two sides will implement three main contents: strengthening training courses to improve science and technology management capacity; developing a set of indicators to assess innovation capacity for industries and fields; and implementing solutions and tools to support businesses with the aim of improving productivity, digital transformation, and green transformation.

VinUni collaborates with Saïd Business School (University of Oxford) in areas such as training, research, consulting, student and faculty exchange, and other mutually beneficial activities. Professor Soumitra Dutta, Dean of Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and President of the Portulans Institute, will serve as the project's Scientific Director. She is also the "father" of the Global Innovation Index.

Therefore, Professor Soumitra Dutta directly supported VinUni's research team in developing an index of innovation capacity in science and technology in Vietnam, while also providing strategic direction, sharing global trends, and showcasing innovation models in typical industries, fields, and countries.

"The launch of the Vietnam Industry Innovation Index will be useful for businesses, help the Government make appropriate policy decisions, and create conditions for the academic community to form strategic partnerships to help Vietnam achieve greater success," he shared.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Minh, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, stated that innovation is considered a bridge between scientific research and technological development and socio-economic development.

"The Ministry, through the Department of Technology Application and Development, will pay attention to and provide methodological support, and support research and training activities at VinUni University to ensure research results serve policy planning and contribute to socio-economic development," he added.

According to Deputy Minister Hoang Minh, VinUni's collaboration with Oxford University, along with the scientific sponsorship of Professor Soumitra Dutta and leading global experts in innovation, will contribute to building a practical toolkit for managers, policymakers, and business administrators; help identify the current state of industries to develop appropriate responses; and enable domestic and international investors to visualize the overall picture, thereby guiding their strategies and investment solutions.

Representing VinUni, Dr. Le Mai Lan - Chairperson of the VinUni University Council - also affirmed that the methodological sponsorship and implementation support from the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as the comprehensive professional participation of Professor Soumitra Dutta and leading scientists in the field, are important conditions for research at VinUni to have practical value and wider application in the future.

The efforts of universities like VinUni can contribute to innovation and empower managers and businesses for the future of Vietnam, in the context of the shift from a developing to a developed economy and the urgent need to invest in human development.
