VN-Index recovered slightly, liquidity improved, but foreign investors sold heavily.

Following the decline on December 17th, the Vietnamese stock market showed a cautious recovery today. The VN-Index rose 3.32 points, and overall market liquidity improved significantly. However, net selling pressure of nearly 900 billion VND from foreign investors and the divergent performance across sectors kept investors cautious.

Market liquidity increased compared to the previous session, with a total trading volume of over 739 million shares across all three exchanges, equivalent to a total trading value of over 19,110 billion VND.

Foreign investors returned to net selling across all three exchanges, totaling over 897 billion VND, focusing on stocks such as DXS (451.54 billion VND), VIC (330.75 billion VND),FPT (94.07 billion VND), HDB (86.19 billion VND), DGC (66.7 billion VND), etc.

Conversely, the stocks that saw significant net selling in this session included MBB (95.11 billion VND), TCB (54.53 billion VND), VNM (51.12 billion VND),SHB (46.23 billion VND), GEX (45.48 billion VND), etc.

On the HoSE exchange, the trading value in this session increased compared to the previous session, reaching over 13,465 billion VND.

In this session, the stocks that contributed positively to the VN-Index's increase of 6.58 points included: VJC, GEE, HDB, TCB, VPB, VNM, MBB, SHB, VPL, and STB.

Conversely, the stocks that negatively impacted the VN-Index, causing it to drop by 3.45 points, included: FPT, DGC, CTG, BCM, BSR, VPX, TCX, VIC, HVN, andACB .

In terms of sectors, software stocks performed negatively in this session, falling 1.54%, mainly due to declines in FPT, CMG, ELC, HPT, SDB, CMT, etc. A few stocks saw gains, including ITD…

The securities sector stocks were mostly in the red this session, falling by 0.29%, mainly due to declines in TCX, VPX, VIX, MBS, CTS, ORS, DSC, TVS, VF5, AAS, ABW… Conversely, a few stocks rose, including VCK, SSI, VND, FUEVFVND, FTS, DSE, E1VFVN30, VDS, AGR, FUEKIV30…

The banking sector stocks traded mostly in positive territory, closing up 0.49%, primarily driven by VCB, TCB, VPB, MBB, HDB, STB, SHB, TPB, MSB, NAB, ABB, BAB… A few stocks declined, including CTG, LPB, ACB, VIB, EIB, NVB, EVF, VBB…

Real estate stocks were mostly in the red this session, falling 0.13%, mainly due to declines in VIC, KSF, BCM, CRV, VPI, PDR, TCH, IDC, SIP, VCR, IJC, RGG, HDC… Conversely, gainers included VRE, KDH, DXG, SJS, TAL, CEO, NLG, QCG…

Energy stocks were mostly in the red this session, falling 0.61%, mainly due to declines in BSR, PVT, PVP, VTO, TMB, PVB, TD6, VTV, NBC, PSB… Stocks that rose included PLX, PVS, PVD, POS, HLC…

The materials sector stocks were mostly in the red this session, falling 0.38%, mainly due to declines in stocks like DGC, KSV, DCM, NTP, HSG, PHR, VCS, NKG, HT1, VIF, PTB, DPR, DHC, CSV, VLB, TRC, VFG… Conversely, gainers included GVR, MSR, ACG, AAA, TDP, GDA, LIC, PAT, KSB, FIC…

Insurance stocks traded mostly in the green, closing up 0.63%, mainly driven by PVI, MIG, PGI, ABI, etc. A few stocks declined, including BIC, BMI, PRE, etc.

Retail stocks performed positively, rising 0.25%, mainly driven by FRT, HUT, DGW, HHS, PET, SVC, HTM, HAX, C69… Conversely, declining stocks included MWG, PNJ, VVS, TSC, HTC, STH…

* The Vietnamese stock market index performed positively today, with the VNXALL-Index closing up 8.43 points (+0.3%) at 2,814.56 points. Trading volume exceeded 695.49 million units, equivalent to a trading value of over 18,202.41 billion VND. Across the market, 154 stocks increased in price, 122 remained unchanged, and 187 decreased.

* On the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX), the HNX-Index closed at 253.23 points, up 0.11 points (+0.04%). Total trading volume reached over 47.54 million shares, with a corresponding transaction value of over 939.58 billion VND. Across the entire market, 50 stocks increased in price, 73 remained unchanged, and 72 decreased.

The HNX30 index closed up 1.84 points (+0.34%), at 544.3 points. Trading volume reached over 36.5 million units, with a corresponding value of over 811.87 billion VND. Across the market, there were 9 gainers, 7 unchanged stocks, and 14 losers.

On the UPCoM market, the UPCoM-Index closed at 118.75 points, down 0.01 points (-0.01%). Total market liquidity reached over 29.75 million shares traded, with a corresponding trading value of over 413.15 billion VND. Across the market, 109 stocks increased in price, 90 remained unchanged, and 100 decreased.

* On the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index closed up 3.32 points (+0.2%), at 1,676.98 points. Trading volume reached over 677.42 million units, equivalent to a trading value of VND 18,581.71 billion. Across the entire exchange, there were 141 gainers, 73 unchanged stocks, and 150 losers.

The VN30 index rose 5.52 points (+0.29%) to close at 1,903.47 points. Trading volume reached over 287.94 million units, equivalent to a transaction value of over 10,316.26 billion VND. At the end of the trading day, 16 VN30 stocks increased, 5 remained unchanged, and 9 decreased.

The top 5 stocks with the highest trading volume were SHB (over 72.28 million units), VND (over 21.2 million units), SSI (over 16.27 million units), MBB (over 12.95 million units), and DXG (over 9.44 million units).

The top 5 gainers were YEG (+6.98%), HII (+6.9%), HID (+6.9%), TDW (+6.88%), and TMT (+6.83%).

The 5 stocks with the biggest price drops were HDB (-20.25%), CLW (-6.96%), DGC (-6.96%), HTG (-6.9%), and TTF (-6.82%).
