Of the 6 competitions, 4 games are being published by VNGGames, including: PUBG mobile (team and individual content), while mobile legends: Bang Bang, League of Legends: Wild Rift and VALORANT will compete in team format.
Vietnam Entertainment eSports Association (VIRESA) said these are all eSports games that are popular, have professional domestic tournaments and impressive international competition records.
At the 32nd SEA Games, VIRESA signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the EFC Cambodia eSports Federation. As a strategic partner, VNG has worked closely with VIRESA to organize athlete selection, using professional tournaments organized by VNG as a measure to evaluate the players' abilities. This year, in addition to familiar faces, there are many new athletes participating for the first time.
Notably, the pre-SEA Games friendly eSports tournament called SEA eSports Championship 2023 was successfully organized by VIRESA and VNG in March 2023. The regional event helps national teams exchange and gain experience in 3 disciplines: PUBG mobile, League of Legends: Wild Rift and VALORANT before entering the real battle.
“VNG’s capacity has been proven through many activities and comprehensively from organization, production, communication to support and training of athletes, especially the recent 31st SEA Games. Therefore, we are very confident in choosing VNG as a strategic partner for the 32nd SEA Games,” said Mr. Do Viet Hung, General Secretary of VIRESA.
SEA Games 32 is the first Southeast Asian Games that Cambodia has hosted and also the first time a regional eSports tournament has taken place. Therefore, VNG has coordinated with global eSports developers and organizations to promote the competitions and adjust the eSport tournament schedule to avoid affecting the athletes' ability to compete, creating the best conditions for SEA Games 32.
In particular, VNG directly brought some specialized equipment and machinery for the production and broadcasting of the tournament to Cambodia early, and sent 35 experienced personnel to support the Organizing Committee.
“We hope that the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia will continue to contribute to spreading the values of eSports as well as the spirit of solidarity and mutual support in coordinating the organization of eSports events in the region. This also demonstrates our commitment to promoting the eSports movement in Southeast Asian countries,” said Mr. La Xuan Thang, Director of Online Game Publishing at VNG.
Previously, at the 31st SEA Games, VNG was also a close partner of the Vietnamese eSports delegation, participating in organizing and operating the tournament while also sponsoring funds and resources for the Organizing Committee, contributing to the proud achievement of 4 Gold medals and 3 Silver medals.
Thanks to its young, tech-savvy population, Vietnam is one of the countries with the most potential for eSports development in the region. According to data from the Ministry of Information and Communications, domestic gaming industry revenue reached more than VND7,000 billion in 2021 and increased to more than VND10,000 billion in 2022./.
