Fostering friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

(NLĐO) - The friendly relations between Vietnam and Cambodia continue to be nurtured through many exchange and cooperation activities between organizations, localities, and people.

On May 25th, in Vung Tau ward (Ho Chi Minh City), the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association and the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association jointly held their 4th joint conference (2022-2027 term).

Attending the conference from the Vietnamese side were Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly , and Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association; Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Cambodia; Mr. Dang Minh Thong, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha - Member of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, along with representatives from the Central Government and various ministries and agencies.

On the Cambodian side were Ms. Samdech Kittisangahapundit Men Sam An, Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party, President of the National Council of the Cambodian Fatherland Front for Solidarity and Development, and President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association; Ms. Touch Sopharath, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Vietnam, along with leaders from several Cambodian localities.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh said that since the conference in Cambodia (December 2024), the two associations have proactively implemented many substantive activities and achieved comprehensive results in 2025.

Most importantly, through each meeting and collaborative activity, the affection between the two associations and the people of the two countries is further strengthened; mutual trust and understanding continue to spread strongly from the older generation to the younger generation today.

Ms. Samdech Kittisangahapundit Men Sam An happily stated that in the economic field, bilateral trade turnover continues to increase, and Vietnamese investment in Cambodia is also developing. In the tourism sector, Vietnam has become a major market for Cambodia, while more and more Cambodians are also traveling to Vietnam, demonstrating the closeness and exchange between the people of the two countries.

"Cambodia expresses its deepest gratitude for Vietnam's invaluable support and assistance in the past and present. The Cambodian people will never forget the immense sacrifices of Vietnamese experts and volunteer soldiers in helping liberate Cambodia from the genocidal regime," said Samdech Kittisangahapundit Men Sam An.

As a leading locality in implementing many cooperation activities with Cambodian localities, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Nguyen Loc Ha, affirmed that in the coming time, the City Party Committee and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to closely coordinate with Cambodian agencies, organizations, and localities to maintain, expand, and further deepen cooperation between the two sides; and implement vibrant, practical, and effective activities to strengthen people-to-people friendship and educate the younger generation about the history, traditions, and profound significance of the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship.

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly and Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association, Nguyen Thi Thanh, and Vice Chairwoman of the Cambodian People's Party, Chairman of the Cambodian National United Front for Construction, and Chairman of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association, Men Sam An, exchanged commemorative gifts.

In her concluding remarks at the conference, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh suggested that the two associations should continue to coordinate effectively in implementing several key tasks. She also expressed her deep confidence that, with the tradition of solidarity and close ties between the two associations and the people of Vietnam and Cambodia, and with the sincere feelings and high responsibility of all levels of the associations, both sides will certainly continue to cooperate effectively, successfully completing the tasks set for 2026 and the following years, making a practical contribution to celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia in 2027.
