Steadfast in the new term

The Party Committee of the An Giang Provincial Military Command recently successfully held its first Congress of Delegates for the 2025-2030 term. This was the first congress of the Provincial Military Command Party Committee after the merger, a significant political event that opens a new phase of development for the province's armed forces.

Major General Huynh Van Ngon - Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 9, assessed: "Over the past 5 years, despite facing many new and unprecedented tasks, along with complex natural disasters and epidemics, the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command have always been united, proactive, and creative, successfully completing their tasks, with many tasks achieving outstanding results."

The provincial armed forces have effectively carried out advisory work on military and national defense tasks; planned and invested efficiently in combat and defense facilities along the border and near-shore islands. Military exercises at all levels have been organized meticulously, enhancing the leadership and management capacity of Party committees and authorities, as well as the advisory and coordination capabilities of the forces in handling situations.

The armed forces maintained a strict combat readiness duty, closely monitored the situation, and promptly handled any incidents, preventing any passive or unexpected situations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the provincial armed forces effectively advised and implemented measures to control and prevent the spread of the disease, earning recognition from the Party committee, government, and people. The provincial border guard closely coordinated with other forces to maintain political security, order, and social safety in the border area; and effectively carried out border diplomacy, contributing to building a peaceful, friendly, and cooperative border with Cambodia.

Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Secretary of the Provincial Military Party Committee, Nguyen Tien Hai, pointed out that An Giang is a key area for national defense and security. In the context of rapidly changing and complex global and regional developments, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command must do a good job of advising on military, national defense, and border security matters. They must handle emerging situations flexibly and effectively at the grassroots level, avoiding passivity and surprise, preventing the formation of "hot spots," maintaining political stability, social order and security, and creating a favorable environment for socio-economic development.

An extremely important task is for the Provincial Military Party Committee to continue implementing comprehensive solutions to build a "lean, efficient, and strong" armed force, aiming for the goal of "revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern"; "modernizing personnel before modernizing weapons and equipment." Comrade Nguyen Tien Hai directed: "Each officer and soldier must have truly firm political resolve; be proficient in technical and tactical skills, master new and modern weapons and equipment; have innovative and creative thinking; possess digital skills and master digital platforms; understand military art and the ability to coordinate combat operations; have enduring health and stamina, meeting the special requirements of military operations in the new situation."

The First Congress of the Provincial Military Party Committee discussed and determined that in the coming period, the focus will be on comprehensively improving the quality of the standing forces, border guards, permanent militia naval squadrons, self-defense militia, and reserve forces. The goal is to enhance the level and capability of combat readiness and achieving victory in all situations, contributing to the successful implementation of the motto "protecting the Fatherland early, from afar, and before the country is in danger."

Along with that, three breakthroughs were identified, along with key targets for the new term, such as maintaining 100% of commune-level military Party branches with Party committees; maintaining at least 60% of Party members in the Permanent Militia Naval Squadron; and recruiting 300 or more new Party members during the term…

With new requirements and tasks amidst a mix of opportunities, difficulties, and challenges, Colonel Huynh Van Khoi - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command - called on all Party members, officers, and soldiers to resolutely build a clean, strong, and exemplary Provincial Military Party Committee, and a comprehensively strong and "exemplary" Provincial Armed Forces, steadily advancing together with the entire army and people into the era of the nation's strong development.
