Thanh Thoi An commune has achieved the standards of a new rural commune.

STO - On April 3rd, at Thanh Thoi An commune, Tran De district (Soc Trang province), the People's Committee of Tran De district held a ceremony to announce the Decision of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee recognizing Thanh Thoi An commune as a new rural commune. Attending the ceremony were: Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Luu Huu Danh - Provincial Party Committee member, Secretary of the Tran De District Party Committee; Mr. Khuu Dang Phuong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Trong Son - Chairman of the Tran De District People's Committee; leaders of relevant departments and agencies; and leaders of specialized departments and agencies of Tran De district.

Thanh Thoi An commune, Tran De district, is a Category I commune in an ethnic minority area, with over 37% of its population being Khmer ethnic people. In the early days of implementing the new rural development program, the commune's socio -economic and cultural development was slow, people's lives were difficult, and the infrastructure for transportation, healthcare, and schools did not meet standards.

Over the past 14 years of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Development, the commune has focused on investing in the development of transportation infrastructure, irrigation, schools, and other important projects. As a result, trade and travel for residents have become more convenient, and the rural landscape is increasingly modern, clean, and beautiful. The New Rural Development Program has contributed to improving people's lives, with 99% of households having access to safe electricity and over 94% having access to clean water meeting national standards. In 2024, the average per capita income reached nearly 61 million VND/person/year; the number of poor households in the commune accounted for 1.36%, and there were no longer any temporary or dilapidated houses.

Comrade Vuong Quoc Nam highly appreciated the results achieved by the Party Committee, government, and people of Thanh Thoi An commune in building a new-style rural commune. He suggested that in the coming time, the commune should continuously enhance the role and responsibility of the Party Committee, government, and the entire political system at the district and commune levels, especially the role of the leaders, in disseminating information and mobilizing each household and individual to have a deeper understanding of the strategic importance of building a new-style rural commune. He also urged continued effective restructuring of the agricultural sector, encouraging the development of cooperative economic models, linking production along the value chain, applying science and technology to agricultural production, and transforming the structure of crops and livestock to suit local conditions. Furthermore, he emphasized the need to mobilize diverse and effectively integrate resources to comprehensively and synchronously implement the tasks of building a new-style rural commune…

On this occasion, two collectives and three individuals received commendations from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for outstanding performance in building Thanh Thoi An commune to meet the standards of a new rural commune; five collectives and ten individuals received certificates of merit from the Chairman of the District People's Committee for their contributions to building Thanh Thoi An commune to meet the standards of a new rural commune… The Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang province donated 100 million VND to the People's Committee of Tai Van commune; Agribank Tran De branch donated three solidarity houses to the people of Thanh Thoi An commune; and various organizations and benefactors donated scholarships and bicycles to students in Thanh Thoi An commune.
