Manchester United winger Amad Diallo shone as Ivory Coast defeated Burkina Faso 3-0 in the Round of 16 match on the evening of January 6th, becoming the first defending African Cup of Nations champions to reach the quarter-finals since 2010.

Diallo scored the opening goal in the 20th minute and assisted Yan Diomande's second goal in the 32nd minute, giving Ivory Coast a significant advantage in the first half. In the second half, Ivory Coast maintained their dominance before substitute Bazoumana Toure sealed the 3-0 victory in the 87th minute.
Meanwhile, a thunderous shot from substitute Adil Boulbina in the final minutes of injury time sealed the tense match, giving Algeria a 1-0 victory over DR Congo in the final Round of 16 match played early this morning (January 7).
Thus, Algetia, along with Cameroon, Senegal, Mali, Nigeria, Egypt, and host nation Morocco, are the eight representatives that have qualified for the quarter-finals of CAN 2025. Accordingly, in the quarter-finals, Senegal will face Mali (January 9th), Cameroon will meet Morocco (January 10th), Algeria will meet Nigeria (January 10th), and Egypt will clash with Ivory Coast (January 11th).
CAN 2025 has significantly increased prize money, totaling $32 million (over 840 billion VND) for the 24 teams participating in the African football tournament. The prize money will increase progressively for teams advancing further in the tournament, with the champion receiving a substantial $7 million (equivalent to 183 billion VND).
