On November 25th, several officials from Mai Trung commune, Hiep Hoa district ( Bac Giang province) confirmed that a resident in the commune had reported being drugged and "hypnotized" by individuals who then stole a large sum of money.
Mr. NVC (born in 1963, residing in Noi Xuan village, Mai Trung commune, Hiep Hoa district) reported to the local police that at approximately 9:00 AM on November 24th, while he was home alone, two people (one male, one female) arrived at his house on a motorbike.
They introduced themselves as being there to take photos for Mr. C.'s family, but then used sedatives to affect Mr. C.'s perception in order to steal many of his belongings.
He reported losing 8 million VND from his wallet and an OPPO mobile phone; he then went on to give these people another 160 million VND from his house.
Mr. C. could not remember the license plate numbers of the two people, while extracting footage from surrounding cameras proved difficult.
The Mai Trung commune police are coordinating with the professional teams of the Hiep Hoa district police to investigate and clarify the incident.
Earlier, on the morning of October 12th, Mr. T.Q.D. (born in 1997, residing in Ca village, My Thai commune, Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province) reported that two people (one male, one female) arrived on a motorbike, showed him a photo of an elderly person, and asked if he recognized the person in the picture.
After seeing the photos, Mr. D. felt dizzy and lost control of his actions. He went into his house and gave these people 3 gold rings, 3 silver necklaces, 1 silver bracelet, 1 silver ring, 1 wedding ring, and 1 mobile phone, totaling approximately 30 million VND in value.
The police advise that, to avoid being scammed or having their property stolen, people need to be extremely vigilant when interacting with strangers. If you notice any unusual behavior, do not let the person get close, do not comply with requests to look at photos or documents, turn off the phone, or give directions; do not drink water or eat food offered by the person...
Proactively end the conversation if these people intentionally try to get close; move on to something else to avoid being manipulated or deceived. Do not create opportunities for criminals to use manipulative tactics to exploit your psychology and seize your assets.
