"Eliminate the power grid gap"

With its heavily fragmented mountainous terrain, scattered population, and many villages located far from the commune center, bringing the national power grid to remote areas of Tuyen Quang province has long been considered a difficult task. However, with high determination, flexible approaches, and the coordinated efforts of Party committees, authorities, and the electricity sector, these "electricity-deprived areas" have been gradually eliminated, bringing light to remote villages.

Na Bo is a highland village in Lien Hiep commune, inhabited entirely by the Dao ethnic minority. The villagers face many hardships, with difficult transportation and rugged terrain making investment in essential infrastructure challenging. Although the road leading to the village has been improved and upgraded in recent years, access to electricity remains a long-awaited dream for the residents.

In the small house of Ms. Trieu Mui Mui, the fire flickers by the stove, warming the village during the cold winter days. Ms. Mui couldn't hide her joy upon hearing the news that the village would soon be connected to the power grid: "We are very excited because we will soon have electricity to light our homes. Many households have already bought rice cookers, electric kettles, televisions... just waiting for the day the electricity comes. With electricity, cooking and daily life will be much more convenient, especially for the children's education." According to Mr. Phan Chieng Kinh, the head of Na Bo village, for many years, the greatest wish of the villagers has been to have electricity to serve their daily lives and production. "With electricity, the face of the countryside will certainly change, especially during Tet (Lunar New Year), the atmosphere will be warmer and more joyful," Mr. Kinh hoped.

In the final days of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, numerous power poles were erected on the mountain slopes around Na Bo village, with power lines stretching along the steep inclines, crossing hills covered in white-flowered reeds. Despite the freezing weather and treacherous terrain, the power company's construction teams worked tirelessly, racing against time to bring electricity to the village before the 2026 Lunar New Year. Nguyen Van Nga, the team leader of the Na Bo village power supply project, said: “To date, the project is over 90% complete. We are focusing our manpower and resources to quickly complete the remaining work and hand it over to the power company to provide electricity to the villagers.”

Mr. Dang Van Thang, Team Leader of the Bac Quang Area Power Management Team, shared: Na Bo village (Lien Hiep commune), as well as some other villages, are areas with extremely complex terrain and difficult transportation, causing many obstacles to extending the power grid. Currently, the unit has implemented temporary power supply solutions using generators to meet essential needs, while focusing intensely on power grid projects to ensure the set schedule is met.

According to a report by Tuyen Quang Power Company, the province currently has 24 areas with no electricity or telecommunications coverage. As of December 15, 2025, seven villages have been connected to the national power grid: Ha To So, Ha Pong Cay, Tung Pang, Khau Rom, Tat Ke, Sung Ta, and Sung Cho. In addition, the company is proactively coordinating and urging contractors to accelerate the construction progress of power projects using local funds, striving to complete and energize them ahead of schedule. Notably, in areas where grid connection is not yet possible, the power sector is flexibly implementing on-site power supply solutions. Specifically in Na Bo village (Lien Hiep commune) and Bo Duot village (Thuong Son commune), while awaiting the completion of the power grid project, Tuyen Quang Power Company installed three 12.5 kVA generators combined with a lithium-ion battery storage system, ensuring essential electricity supply for daily life and communication for the people.

Eliminating electricity gaps not only has economic significance but also profound social value. Electricity helps people in mountainous and remote areas better access information, healthcare, and education; creates conditions for the development of production and services, and gradually improves their material and spiritual lives. Furthermore, it demonstrates the concern of the Party, the State, and the Electricity sector for people in remote, disadvantaged, and particularly difficult areas. This contributes to realizing the goal of sustainable development, ensuring that no one is left behind on the journey of national progress.
