Upholding the humanitarian and merciful traditions of the nation, the Party and the State have repeatedly implemented amnesty policies for prisoners who have shown good progress in rehabilitation, labor, and education, creating conditions for them to return to their families early; thereby, reintegrating into the community and becoming useful citizens for society.
The year 2026 holds special significance as the entire country solemnly celebrates the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026), the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026), and successfully organizes the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. In this context, General Secretary and President To Lam signed Decision No. 751/QD-CTN dated May 26, 2026, granting amnesty to 9,950 prisoners nationwide. Specifically at the Hue City Police Detention Center, 12 prisoners meet the criteria to receive amnesty in this round.
Colonel Kieu Duc Tinh, Deputy Director of Hue City Police, said that, similar to the amnesty programs carried out in previous years, the process of reviewing, approving, and completing the amnesty application dossiers for 2026 was implemented strictly, openly, democratically, and in coordination with relevant agencies by the city police, ensuring objectivity, fairness, and that the correct individuals were targeted and met all the conditions stipulated by law.
The amnesty granted to 12 inmates serving sentences at the City Police Detention Center is a recognition of their continuous efforts in rehabilitation, labor, study, good compliance with detention facility regulations, and determination to correct their mistakes and rebuild their lives. At the same time, this result reflects the effectiveness of inmate education and rehabilitation, demonstrating the close coordination between detention facilities, families, agencies, organizations, and society as a whole in implementing the humane and lenient policies of the Party and State towards offenders who show remorse and actively strive for self-improvement.
