On September 27 and 28, in Hanoi , the Center for Business Research and Enterprise Support (BSA) in collaboration with the Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Enterprises organized the 3rd semi-final round of the "11th Green Startup Project Competition".
The semi-final round in Hanoi gathered 26 startup projects, including 9 projects in group A (creative ideas) and 17 projects in group B (startups with products). The teams came from many localities such as Hanoi, Ha Tinh , Lang Son, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong.
Hanoi has the largest number of projects with 12 projects, followed by Ninh Binh (3), Thai Nguyen (2 projects), Hai Phong (2 projects), Lao Cai (2 projects)... Notably, many contestants are Tay, Nung, Muong ethnic people participating in the contest, demonstrating the spread of green startup spirit to the community.
According to Ms. Vu Kim Anh, Deputy Director of BSA Center, Head of the Organizing Committee, the highlight of the competition round in Hanoi is the creativity in exploiting and renewing local resources. The projects focus on Green trends, recycling, innovation such as Cocosoil from coconut shells, Pina Pineapple, "Happy Forest" model, VietCycle+, or GypFoam construction materials from waste.
Northern mountainous provinces bring products associated with folk knowledge such as Shan Tuyet tea, chit tree, black jelly, loofah, while delta provinces such as Ninh Binh and Hai Phong exploit rice, eel, chrysanthemum, herbs to develop health care products, beauty products, and environmentally friendly household items.
Among the participating projects, the project “Sophisticated Turmeric” by contestant Nguyen Thu Lanh attracted attention for its difference. The product is fresh turmeric fermented with honey in a ceramic jar for over 6 months, creating a product line containing probiotics, different from turmeric starch or industrial nano turmeric.
Contestant Nguyen Thu Lanh shared: “There are many turmeric products on the market, but the unique point of the project is the natural fermentation process, which creates a product rich in nutritional value and friendly to health. Participating in the contest, I realized that there are many potential projects, but I also believe that my product will be highly appreciated by the jury and those who understand the turmeric market.”
In addition to the competitions, consulting is considered a key factor in helping start-up projects develop sustainably. Ms. Vu Kim Anh said: “Green start-up competitions always aim to help products reach a wide market. In the past three years, young people - the product creators - have been the decisive factor in success. Projects do not stop at ideas but also focus on perfecting products to meet high quality standards.”
Accordingly, the Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Enterprises and the BSA Center support start-up groups to develop standard products, expand export opportunities, and organize many domestic and foreign trade promotion activities. Enterprises are facilitated to participate in international fairs, study tours, company tours in Thailand, Korea, China, etc. and domestic markets to learn from experience and connect directly with buyers.
Consulting work is also implemented throughout through training, seminars, and guidance on financial management, production standards, packaging design, and product completion according to GAP standards.
Semi-finalists are supported to practice their presentation skills in front of investors and judges. When entering the final round, the teams continue to be nurtured with specialized programs such as the mini show “Go Global”, training on sustainable finance development, training on circular production and circular economy. These activities help to improve capacity and long-term development orientation for young businesses.
Previously, the competition held two semi-final rounds in Ho Chi Minh City and Dak Lak, selecting 28 projects for the final round. The semi-final round in Hanoi continues to search for outstanding faces to compete in the upcoming national final round.
The Green Startup Competition was initiated by BSA in 2015, aiming to find and support projects based on local resources, associated with innovation and sustainable development. After 10 seasons, the competition has accompanied hundreds of startup projects, many models have developed into businesses, contributing to building the Vietnamese brand. | |
