Nguyen Van Toan is one of the rare Vietnamese footballers who has gone abroad and integrated quite well. After his senior teammate Le Cong Vinh playing for Sapporo Consadole in J-League 2, he is the first to have a regular playing time in K-League 2, with Seoul E-land.

Up to this point, the young man from Hai Duong has made 10 appearances for the South Korean team in K-League 2, along with one match in the National Cup. That's nearly 400 minutes of playing time, which is very impressive compared to Cong Phuong at Yokohama FC or Quang Hai at Pau FC.

Therefore, Van Toan's return to Vietnam to play for the national team created a huge sense of anticipation among fans. Although he didn't play much, partly because coach Troussier wanted to give opportunities to Cong Phuong and Quang Hai, who rarely played for their clubs, Van Toan had a fairly successful debut under his new coach.

But the Văn Toàn fever hasn't stopped there, as a number of ambitious teams are hatching plans to bring him back to the V-League. Even as early as the second half of the season!

Furthermore, Van Toan has signed a one-season contract with Seoul E-land FC, with an option to extend for another season, determined to prove that Vietnamese players can compete in South Korea's second-highest league.

In fact, he is adapting well to his new environment. Although he hasn't yet secured a starting spot, the former HAGL player's attitude and professionalism in training and matches have been highly appreciated by his teammates and coaching staff, as evidenced by his appearances and participation in activities such as "Vietnam Day" at the club.

Conversely, this only strengthens the desire of V-League giants to acquire Van Toan. Besides Nam Dinh FC, which has been closely following Van Toan since the beginning of this season, most recently Ho Chi Minh City FC and two other unnamed clubs have also entered the race.

This ambition stems from the fact that Ho Chi Minh City FC is preparing to announce a new sponsor, marking their overcoming of the financial crisis and their aim to strengthen their squad and attract more spectators to the stadium.

Nevertheless, Ho Chi Minh City FC's main rival will still be Nam Dinh FC. According to exclusive sources of Thanh Nien Newspaper , the Nam Dinh team is even willing to spend a record fee for a Vietnamese player to persuade "the son of the wind" Van Toan to join them at Thien Truong Stadium.

The underperforming quality of the foreign players caused Nam Dinh FC many difficulties in the V-League 2023, even though midfielder Hendrio still played well, creatively and made great efforts to create chances, opportunities kept slipping away from the clumsy foreign players.

In an effort to improve their attack, Nam Dinh FC is ambitious to secure the signature of Van Toan as early as the second phase of the season, aiming to boost their chances in the 2023 V-League championship race. To achieve this, they will have to overcome many difficulties to gain the approval of Seoul E-land FC and, most importantly, Van Toan – who is eager to prove himself in South Korea.
