On the evening of July 7, the 5th National Professional Stage Arts Festival on "The Image of the Police Soldier" in 2025 concluded and presented awards at the Ho Guom Theater, Hanoi .
The festival is organized by the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Stage Artists Association.
This is also a key cultural and artistic activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection.
After 13 days, the units performed 25 works, including 15 spoken plays, 4 cheo plays, and 2 cai luong plays. Notably, 2 plays were staged from scripts written by 2 police officers.

Just understanding the police officer in external form
According to the jury's assessment, the 25 works participating in this festival are 25 pieces to create a fairly complete picture of the image of the People's Public Security soldier.
Three art units chose this theme to exploit the hardships, dangers and heroic sacrifices of firefighters. Where others run away, they rush in, where people seek to escape death, they are willing to accept death so that people can live.
There are police officers who volunteer to leave the bustling city, say goodbye to their loved ones to go to the border...

Acknowledging the efforts of the theater troupes, the jury also pointed out many limitations of the works participating in this festival. That is, the image of the police officer in the work is blurred compared to the image of the criminal.
Some plays lack authenticity. The audience feels bitter when on stage there are too many police officers in difficult situations, with economic difficulties, relatives suffering from serious illnesses or accidents…
According to Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong - chairman of the jury, everyone understands that the creator wants to push the characters into tragic situations so that they can overcome and win.
But if it is too fictional, it will only create disgust.
In addition, another limitation in this festival is that the characters are too many sacrificed police officers.
And there has not been any play that exploits the issue of "policemen living in the hearts of the people", "people's feelings for police officers", "the flesh-and-blood bond between the people and the police".
Mr. Chuong assessed that the creative force of stage arts only understands the police officer in terms of external form, in terms of information that the media reports daily, and does not understand the core and essence.

The Organizing Committee decided to award 5 gold medals to 5 plays: The Third Person (author: Minh Anh; director: People's Artist Le Hung) of the People's Police Drama Theater; Blue Sky at the Bottom of the Abyss (author: Truc Ngan; director: Nguyen Hoang Tung) of the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema;
Don't Fall (author: Nguyen Dang Chuong; director: People's Artist Le Hung) of the Army Drama Theater; Reunion of Emotions (author: Hoai Huong; director: Le Quoc Na) of Truong Hung Minh Stage Company Limited; Thunder at Lach Hoi Gate (author: Nguyen Toan Thang; director: People's Artist Nguyen Toan Thang) of Lam Son Art Theater.
