Currently, over 83% of the population in Yen Lap district are ethnic minorities living in 17 communes and towns, primarily the Muong and Dao people.
Implementing the National Target Program for socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2030, Yen Lap has implemented a policy to support the construction of new houses for poor households in ethnic minority areas and particularly difficult areas in ethnic minority and mountainous regions. At the same time, it has guided communes and towns to review and compile lists as a basis for approving eligible beneficiaries...

The family of Mr. Sa Dinh Thin, residing in Zone 8, My Lung commune, received 40 million VND in support for housing construction from the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
According to reported data, the district has disbursed all the funds for 2023. In 2024, the total capital for national target programs in the district is over 3 billion VND, including 2.8 billion VND from the central government budget and 280 million VND from the provincial budget.
To date, the communes have completed supporting the construction of 50 new houses for households in the district in 2023 and have approved the list of beneficiaries for 70 households receiving housing support in 2024. Currently, some households have completed the acceptance testing and finalized the procedures to receive housing support as regulated.
The implemented ethnic programs and policies will be a great driving force helping Yen Lap district achieve its economic, cultural, and social development goals, improving the quality of life for the people in general and ethnic minorities in particular.
