Defender Adriano Schmidt was relegated to the starting goalkeeper position in Ho Chi Minh City FC's away match against Nam Dinh in Round 18 of the V.League, which took place on the evening of April 13th at Thien Truong Stadium.

The Ho Chi Minh City FC squad list for the match against Nam Dinh was finalized and sent to the organizers a few hours before the game (which starts at 6 PM). As in recent matches, due to Patrik Le Giang's injury, Tran Van Tien will be the starting goalkeeper, while Nguyen Manh Cuong will be the reserve for Ho Chi Minh City FC.

However, just minutes before the match, an unexpected incident occurred for Ho Chi Minh City FC when Van Tien suffered an injury and was unable to play. The coaching staff was forced to remove Van Tien from the squad and bring in goalkeeper Manh Cuong. He was also the only healthy goalkeeper of Ho Chi Minh City FC.

Because the league regulations stipulate that clubs must have at least one reserve goalkeeper, coach Phùng Thanh Phương and his colleagues were forced to choose a replacement, and Adriano Schmidt was assigned the task.
