AFC "overlooks" Vietnam U23 team.

The AFC recently published an article identifying eight players expected to shine at the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Championship. The eight players selected are Ahmed Al Rawi (Qatar), Kuryu Matsuki (Japan), Eom Ji Sung (South Korea), Sultan Adil (UAE), Ali Jasim (Iraq), Ahmed Al Ghamdi (Saudi Arabia), Khusain Norchaev (Uzbekistan), and Marselino Ferdinan (Indonesia).

Among these, with the exception of the players from South Korea and Japan, the others have all made their mark to varying degrees while playing for their national teams, and will therefore be key players for their respective teams at the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Championship.

Notably, the AFC's selection list includes Marselino Ferdinand (Indonesia) as a Southeast Asian representative, but no players from the Vietnam U23 team. It seems that the recent poor performances of Vietnamese players have led the AFC to not rate the squad that coach Hoang Anh Tuan has at his disposal for the tournament in Qatar very highly.

The 2024 AFC U23 Asian Championship kicks off today, April 15th, and concludes on May 3rd. The opening day features two matches: Jordan U23 vs. Australia U23 and Qatar U23 vs. Indonesia U23.
