Let's join hands to preserve the rhythm of our homeland's poetry.
Established in February 2015, the Trieu Phong District Vietnamese Poetry Club (now the Trieu Region Poetry Branch under the Quang Tri Province Vietnamese Poetry Club) faced many difficulties regarding manpower and meeting places. However, driven by a passionate love for poetry, from its initial four core members, the club has now grown to 14 members from the communes of Trieu Co, Trieu Phong, Ai Tu, Hai Lang, Cua Viet, and Quang Tri ward. The club meets regularly and continuously improves the quality of its poetic works.

Mr. Pham Dinh Trung, the club's chairman, shared: "The biggest obstacle in the early days was gathering people with the same passion and improving the quality of their writing. We chose to encourage them, discuss poems together, and offer sincere feedback on each manuscript. Thanks to this, our members have made rapid progress in their professional skills."
Currently, the Trieu Land Poetry Branch has become a common home for many people from all walks of life, from retired officials to laborers. Although not formally trained, the members, with a spirit of volunteerism, have contributed funds and mobilized resources to maintain sustainable operations. The impressive result is the publication of three joint poetry collections, among which the anthology "Huong Dong Xu Trieu" (Fragrance of the Trieu Land Countryside) has left a deep impression on readers.
The works focus on praising the Party and the beloved President Ho Chi Minh, expressing love for the homeland and country, romantic love, and acknowledging the achievements of the renewal of Trieu Phong today. Besides group activities, club members have proactively invested funds to publish six individual poetry collections.
Let the spirit of the countryside spread throughout the times.
For many members of the club, poetry is not only a joy in old age but also a precious spiritual remedy. Mr. Doan Giang Dong, one of the club's long-time members, shared that poetry is the thread that connects the feelings of brotherhood and community. In his simple verses, readers find images of the village road, the wooden bridge, or the glowing charcoal fire in the early morning.
Mr. Dong shared: "Poetry helps soothe the soul, makes life seem more beautiful, and especially improves mental health. I always hope that today's young generation, even living in the age of technology, will continue and develop the tradition of Vietnamese poetry. Because poetry is one of the most accessible means of educating about traditions, national identity, and love for peace."
It's not just the elderly men; the female members also contribute a unique color. Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Tanh, who joined the club in 2017, is a vivid example. Having lived abroad for a long time, Ms. Tanh carries her longing for her homeland into each free verse poem. For her, poetry is an essential part of life, an expression of maternal love and patriotism.
"There are nights when I can't write even a few lines, and I find it very difficult to sleep. Poetry has truly nourished me during my years away from home and even after returning to this land of Trieu," Mrs. Tanh confided.
Despite being amateur writers, the members of the Trieu Land Poetry Branch Club are keen to keep pace with the times. Besides printing traditional poetry collections, the club has proactively promoted its works through social media, especially Facebook. This serves as a bridge, bringing poems about good people, good deeds, or the changes in communes and wards closer to young readers.
Bringing poetry to the digital space not only promotes the image of their homeland but also helps members connect with poetry lovers across the country and even abroad. Feedback and shares from children, grandchildren, and friends are invaluable motivations for these "village poets" to continue their creative work.
Regarding future direction, Mr. Pham Dinh Trung affirmed that the club will focus on recruiting young members to ensure continuity. The goal is to have at least 1-2 members publish their own poetry collections each year, while maintaining regular meetings to refine their writing.
On this land steeped in love for the homeland and deep affection for its people, the poems of the members of the Trieu Land Poetry Club branch about the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and love for their homeland and country continue to shine brightly. These amateur poets are quietly building a healthy cultural and spiritual life, preserving the quintessential "soul of the homeland" for future generations.
