Agribank is strengthening connectivity and comprehensively applying data, partnering with the Government to build a national data platform.

In the context of national digital transformation being identified as a key driver of socio-economic development, the Vietnam Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (Agribank) is actively promoting the comprehensive integration and application of data into its banking operations. Through standardizing, cleaning, and effectively utilizing data, Agribank not only enhances its governance capacity, product and service quality, and customer experience, but also affirms its role as a leading state-owned commercial bank, pioneering in accompanying the Government in creating and developing the national data platform.

The implementation of the Project on developing applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve the national digital transformation in the period 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030 (Project 06) is identified as one of the important tasks contributing to improving the efficiency of state management, while also creating an additional "digital shield" to protect the assets and information of citizens and businesses in the digital environment.

Agribank proactively implements many comprehensive solutions.

In implementing the tasks under Project 06, Agribank has proactively deployed many synchronized solutions, focusing on developing an ecosystem of "smart touchpoints" to support the collection, verification, and cleaning of customer data, gradually forming a centralized, standardized data warehouse ready for exploitation to serve banking operations.

Over the past period, Agribank has proactively strengthened coordination with functional units of the Ministry of Public Security in researching and implementing solutions for exploiting and connecting data to serve management and standardize customer information. Through cooperative activities, Agribank is gradually applying authentication, reconciliation, and data cleaning services associated with the National Population Database, creating an important foundation for the development of safe and convenient digital banking services.

In particular, the biometric authentication and electronic identification system has been expanded, making it easier for customers to verify their identity when opening accounts, registering for services, or making requests related to personal information directly on their mobile devices or at the transaction counter.

In December 2024, Agribank and the Research and Application Center for Citizen Data and Identity Cards (RAR) signed an agreement to provide and use electronic authentication services via VNeID on Agribank Plus. As a result, to date, Agribank has collected and cleaned data for nearly 11 million individual customers, 30,000 foreign customers, and approximately 150,000 corporate customers. Of these, 200,000 customers have connected and authenticated entirely using VNeID.

Agribank and the RAR Center - Ministry of Public Security signed an agreement to deploy electronic authentication services via VNeID on the Agribank Plus application on December 23, 2024.

Entering 2025, Agribank continues to expand the scope of data cleaning for corporate customers and foreign customers who do not use citizen identification cards. As a result, data from over 143,000 corporate customers and nearly 27,000 foreign customers has been comprehensively collected and standardized.

Simultaneously, Agribank is continuously expanding the features on the VNeID platform. The service of linking social security accounts directly on VNeID has recorded more than 1.3 million linked Agribank accounts. The bank is also researching and testing many new features such as: allowing VNeID users to open accounts online at Agribank, using VNeID to replace citizen identification cards in transaction authentication, and deploying digital certificates and digital signatures for banking services on the VNeID platform.

Beyond its banking operations, Agribank actively collaborates with the Hanoi city government to implement solutions for leveraging population data to streamline administrative procedures and provide online public services. The "3-party - 1-touchpoint" model, piloted at Agribank's branches, allows citizens and businesses to complete numerous administrative procedures directly at the bank, saving time and costs while minimizing the need for document additions and revisions.

Agribank inaugurates a "Public Service Consultation, Support and Reception Point" at the Hanoi Branch I Headquarters.

Agribank also participated in sponsoring the smart kiosk system for authenticating and issuing digital copies of electronic documents, applying AI and recognition technology to automate the authentication process. As a result, the processing time has been shortened to only 3-5 minutes, much faster than before.

Recently, Agribank signed a cooperation agreement with the General Department of Taxation and VNPAY to implement digital transformation solutions for household businesses and small enterprises. These solutions help connect data with tax authorities, support sales management, issue electronic invoices, and automatically transmit tax data, thereby enhancing transparency, optimizing operating costs, and increasing management efficiency.

Secure data is the foundation for sustainable digital banking development.

Agribank recognizes that data is not only an input for management but also a strategic resource, playing a fundamental role in the development of a modern, secure, and sustainable digital bank. Mastering, standardizing, connecting, and effectively utilizing data is a prerequisite for innovating operating models, enhancing risk management capabilities, ensuring system security, and improving the quality of service to people and businesses, especially in the agricultural and rural sectors.

Based on this, Agribank continues to expand cooperation with ministries, localities, and technology partners to promote data connectivity, sharing, and exploitation in a synchronized, secure, and efficient manner; gradually forming a unified data ecosystem to serve banking operations and state management requirements.

Connecting and leveraging cross-sectoral data not only helps standardize business processes and enhance transparency, but also creates room for Agribank to develop digital services in an automated, customer-centric direction.

In particular, the national electronic identification application VNeID has helped Agribank access a fully verified and reliable source of customer data, creating an important foundation for the deployment of comprehensive digital banking models. Based on this cleaned and verified data, Agribank is able to apply new technologies such as big data analytics and artificial intelligence to proactively identify needs, design, and provide products and services tailored to each customer group.

This also serves as a foundation for Agribank to gradually realize the digital banking model, in which the entire process from identification, account opening, service registration, contract signing to transactions and account management is carried out in a digital environment, safely, transparently and conveniently, contributing to improving access to financial services for people and businesses.

These directions and efforts further affirm Agribank's role in effectively implementing the Prime Minister's Project 06 and the digital transformation strategy of the banking sector; at the same time, they clearly demonstrate the responsibility of a leading state-owned commercial bank in using data as a foundation, digital transformation as a driving force, and people and businesses as the central focus of service, in line with the spirit: "Government serves - Banks accompany - People benefit".
