According to Abu-Zeid, Foreign Minister Shoukry and EU High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy Josep Borrell will co-chair the meeting, with the participation of foreign ministers from EU member states.
Mr. Abu-Zeid assessed the 10th meeting of the EU-Egypt Association Council as particularly important, as it marks 20 years since the association agreement between Egypt and the EU came into effect in 2004. The meeting will also review the results of the implementation of the Egypt-Europe partnership agreement, as well as the benefits from the Egypt-EU Partnership Priority Framework 2021-2027.
During his visit to Brussels, the Egyptian Foreign Minister will discuss with his EU counterparts ways to strengthen bilateral relations and review the progress of projects and joint programs between Egypt and the EU.
The two sides will exchange views on current crises in the region, particularly the Gaza Strip conflict, the situations in Sudan, Somalia and Libya, as well as concerns about Red Sea security.
Mr. Shoukry is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with EU foreign ministers and commissioners on neighborhood policy, economic issues, energy, migration, climate, humanitarian issues, and crisis management.
The Egyptian foreign minister will also attend the meeting with Mr. Borrell, as well as the foreign ministers of Jordan and Saudi Arabia, to discuss the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the future of the Palestinian cause.
