On May 23rd, Ho Chi Minh City Open University organized an international scientific conference on foreign language teaching, particularly teaching English to non-speaking speakers (OpenTESOL).
With the theme "Critical Perspectives on Language Education : Technology, Policy, and Mental Health," this year's OpenTESOL conference focuses on discussing the application of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), in language teaching and learning, along with current foreign language education policies.

Professor Nguyen Minh Ha delivered a speech at the conference.
In addition, the workshop also shared research on mental health, motivation, and enjoyment in teaching and learning for teachers and learners in the context of modern education. The topics discussed were related to digital competence, autonomy, career and learning orientation, personal identity, social roles, and continuous professional development.
Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Minh Ha, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, emphasized that in the context of today's rapidly changing education landscape, language educators are facing both new opportunities and challenges. Advances in technology and artificial intelligence are transforming the way we teach, learn, and communicate.
According to him, OpenTESOL serves as an important forum for educators and researchers to exchange academic ideas, critically reflect, and explore innovative methods that can have a positive impact on the language education community at both local and global levels.

Delegates asked questions and exchanged views at the workshop.
This year's OpenTESOL attracted over 400 delegates participating in person and online, including scholars, administrators, researchers, lecturers, and graduate students specializing in English language teaching, applied linguistics, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese languages from universities, educational institutions, and training centers in Vietnam and more than 12 countries worldwide.
OpenTESOL is an open academic forum that facilitates the sharing of expertise, experience, and the latest research findings among scientists, researchers, lecturers, and teachers. Its goal is to develop students' knowledge and skills, enhance the competitiveness of the workforce, and promote sustainable development in the field of language teaching.
