AI makes scams more convincing

Steve Wozniak, who co-founded Apple with the late CEO Steve Jobs, has just warned about the risks that artificial intelligence (AI) can bring. He believes that AI can be exploited by bad actors and become a tool to create fake content, scams, and misinformation that are harder to detect.

Steve Wozniak worries about the negative side of AI in the wrong hands

Wozniak has called for AI-generated content to be clearly labeled and called for lawmakers to pay attention to the field. The Apple co-founder is not the only high-profile figure in the tech industry concerned about the risks AI could pose to human society. A number of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, leaders, academics, and AI researchers have signed a letter calling for a moratorium on the development of AI systems for at least the next six months due to safety concerns.

Responding to BBC recently, Woz (Steve Wozniak's nickname) said: "AI is so smart but it is 'open' to bad guys, people who always want to trick you and hide their true identity". Woz does not believe that AI can replace humans because of the lack of emotions, but also warns that the intelligence of this technology will make the scams of bad guys more believable.

Billionaire Bill Gates, meanwhile, believes that AI is a game-changing technology and does not support a pause in the development of this field. Currently, Microsoft - the company founded and led by Bill Gates for many years - is investing in OpenAI to develop the large language models GPT-3 and GPT-4, commonly known as ChatGPT.
