Alcaraz misses Wimbledon again.

(NLĐO) - After missing most of the clay court season, Alcaraz continues to miss Wimbledon to ensure a full recovery.

Carlos Alcaraz will miss Wimbledon 2026 as his right wrist injury is recovering slower than expected. Late on May 20th, the Spanish player confirmed he was not yet fit enough to return to competition and was forced to withdraw from the entire grass court season this year, including the Queen's Club Championship and Wimbledon.

The Spanish Grand Slam champion said his recovery is progressing well, but he is not yet ready to compete. Alcaraz also admitted that Wimbledon and Queen's are very special tournaments to him, so his absence would be difficult to accept.

"My recovery is progressing well and I feel much better, but unfortunately I'm not ready to compete yet, so I have to miss the grass tournaments at Queen's and Wimbledon. Those are two really special tournaments for me and I will miss them a lot. We are still working hard to get back as quickly as possible!" Alcaraz shared on his personal page.

Prior to this, Alcaraz had not competed since the Barcelona Open on April 14th, when he suffered a problem with his right wrist. This injury caused the 23-year-old to miss several major clay court tournaments such as the Madrid Open, the Italian Open, and Roland Garros 2026.

Continuing his absence from Wimbledon means Alcaraz will miss two consecutive Grand Slam tournaments for the first time since 2019.

Wimbledon is one of Alcaraz's most successful tournaments, where he has won the men's singles title twice. Last season, the Spaniard reached the final before losing to Jannik Sinner.

In recent years, Alcaraz and Sinner have almost dominated men's tennis with a streak of 9 consecutive Grand Slam titles. However, Alcaraz still prioritizes a full recovery rather than risking an early return. Wimbledon 2026 will take place from June 29th to July 12th.
