Stay awake so the people can sleep, stand guard so the people can enjoy themselves.
Colonel Nguyen Van Huu, Head of Political Affairs of the Hanoi Capital Command, stated that, recognizing the top priority of ensuring the absolute safety of key targets and political and cultural events during the Lunar New Year, the Party Committee and the Hanoi Capital Command have strictly implemented directives and orders from the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense , and the Hanoi City Party Committee and People's Committee; maintaining strict command, duty, combat, and air defense duty regimes, ensuring personnel and equipment are in a high state of combat readiness.
At air defense positions and key targets, officers and soldiers take turns on duty 24/7. Many young soldiers are celebrating Tet away from home for the first time, but they remain steadfast in their positions, clearly understanding their responsibility to "stay awake so the people can sleep, stand guard so the people can enjoy themselves." Combat plans to protect agencies and units, as well as plans for fire prevention, explosion control, rescue, and relief, are reviewed, supplemented, and practiced thoroughly, ensuring they are not caught off guard or unprepared in any situation.
In particular, the task of ensuring the safety of the New Year's Eve fireworks display for the people was meticulously prepared, with close coordination between forces, contributing to creating a sacred moment and complete joy on the night of the New Year's transition.
While the streets were adorned with flags and flowers, and people and families eagerly celebrated the Lunar New Year of the Horse, officers and soldiers of the Armored Battalion under the Hanoi Capital Command maintained strict readiness for combat. As a powerful mobile firepower force of the Capital's armed forces, the unit always clearly defined its mission to protect key targets, ready to promptly handle any situation, preventing any passive or unexpected events.

Major Luong Manh Duc, Deputy Battalion Commander of the Armored Battalion, said that in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), officers and soldiers diligently trained, the sound of armored vehicle engines still echoing throughout the barracks. Officers and soldiers practiced various maneuvering and combat coordination plans, inspected and maintained weapons and technical equipment, ensuring the highest technical readiness. Alongside training, the unit proactively cared for the material and spiritual well-being of the troops; organizing spring decorations, making traditional rice cakes, and holding cultural and artistic activities to create a warm and united atmosphere.
Major General Nguyen Khac Nhan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Hanoi Capital Command, shared that along with the task of combat readiness, the work of policy and support for the military has been widely implemented, demonstrating the principle of "drinking water, remembering the source." Tet gifts from the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Hanoi People's Committee have been delivered directly to policy beneficiaries, families in difficult circumstances, and officers working in particularly difficult areas, totaling over 1.1 billion VND.

The Hanoi Capital Command organized visits and presented gifts to affiliated agencies and units; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; former unit leaders from various periods; comrades in difficult circumstances; and provided Tet (Lunar New Year) allowances to many individuals, totaling over 16 billion VND. These gifts not only have material value but also represent profound gratitude, affection, and responsibility from the capital's armed forces towards those who have dedicated and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
In parallel, the units coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to organize repairs and incense offerings at martyrs' cemeteries, and visited families of policy beneficiaries, contributing to strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people.

Spreading kindness and compassion at the grassroots level.
One of the highlights of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse was the "Military-Civilian Tet" program organized in many communes and wards throughout the city. The regional defense commands and commune/ward military commands proactively coordinated with local authorities, businesses, and military units stationed in the area to organize a series of meaningful and practical activities.
Over 540 officers, soldiers, and militia members participated in activities to support the people in cleaning up the environment, beautifying village roads and alleys, and giving gifts to policy beneficiary families and poor households. The Hanoi Capital Command provided 120 gift packages, each worth 1.5 million VND, totaling 180 million VND, to people in difficult circumstances.
These simple yet heartfelt activities have warmed the hearts of the people in the days leading up to Tet, while also contributing to building an increasingly strong foundation of public support.

Political and ideological education has been implemented comprehensively and thoroughly. Officers and soldiers have been fully informed about the meaning and cultural value of the traditional Lunar New Year; they understand the standards and regulations during the Tet holiday; and their awareness of combat readiness has been enhanced.
Preparations for the troop handover ceremony, the training commencement ceremony, and the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho" were meticulously carried out. The Hanoi Capital Command organized an online connection point at the 692nd Infantry Regiment of the 301st Infantry Division, ensuring smooth and effective operation.
The 47th Task Force of various agencies and units actively "monitored the internet," posting and sharing over 250 articles and nearly 350 comments, attracting over 130,000 interactions. They promptly countered false viewpoints and harmful information, maintaining a firm ideological stance in cyberspace.
In response to the intensive emulation campaign themed "Celebrating the glorious Party, celebrating the Year of the Horse, celebrating the renewal and development of the country and the capital," 100% of agencies and units organized and launched the emulation campaign seriously and effectively. Officers and soldiers registered to fulfill the emulation targets and contents well; committed to not deserting or abandoning their posts, not violating laws or discipline; not drinking alcohol while on duty; and not participating in superstition or gambling in any form.
All 20/20 emulation blocs under the Hanoi Capital Command organized conferences to sign emulation agreements for 2026 in a thorough and substantive manner. The emulation atmosphere spread strongly, creating motivation for each collective and individual to strive to complete their tasks well from the very first days and months of the new year.

Despite performing duties throughout the Tet holiday, the material and spiritual well-being of the soldiers was still carefully considered. The entire force organized the decoration of 244 rooms and locations to welcome the spring; including 189 rooms and 55 locations at various agencies and units.
Cultural, artistic, and sports activities took place enthusiastically: rice cake wrapping and cooking competitions; football, volleyball, pickleball, table tennis, and badminton tournaments; folk games such as tug-of-war and chess; democratic flower picking, making and reviewing spring newspapers, and poetry recitations… Laughter and singing echoed through the barracks, dispelling homesickness and strengthening camaraderie among comrades.

All activities were organized in a joyful, wholesome, economical, and safe manner, in accordance with the guidelines of the Political Department, contributing to the building of a pure and healthy military cultural environment.
It was this silent sacrifice that contributed to a safe, meaningful, and fulfilling spring. And from the bustling barracks filled with the colors of spring, a new spirit of emulation is being strongly ignited, creating the foundation for the armed forces of the Capital to enter 2026 with high determination, ready to receive and excellently complete all assigned tasks, worthy of the trust and love of the Party Committee, the government, and the people of Hanoi.
