Music - the "magnet" attracting visitors to Lam Dong of thousands of flowers

Last week, my group of friends and I in Ho Chi Minh City had a vacation in Lam Dong, a thousand flowers. The special thing that made my group of friends come back here many times is not only to enjoy the cool air but also the emotional music space that few places have.

We made a reservation and visited May Lang Thang Cafe - a place considered a pioneer in creating a new "golden hour" for listening to music at 4:30 pm on weekends. The performance featured many famous artists and singers, satisfying the needs of visitors to join in the music parties in a gentle, quiet space, true to the dreamy Da Lat style.

Coming to Da Lat, not only to enjoy the poetic scenery, but those who love to travel also want to experience musical moments to purify their souls. In the middle of the vast mountains and forests, in the typical cold, sitting with friends or relatives listening to music outdoors is a really interesting thing.

The sound of the guitar and the voice echoing with the sound of the wind, the scent of pine trees, watching the sunset behind the drifting clouds, all create a scene that is both romantic and peaceful. Nguyen Anh Trung ( Ho Chi Minh City) shared: “The combination of relaxation and music in the mountain town makes the trip more complete, leaving unforgettable impressions for anyone who has experienced it. In the cold mist of the mountain town, the music resonates as if touching every emotional beat. It is the combination of rest, relaxation and experiencing music that creates the very unique appeal of Da Lat”.

Currently, Da Lat has more than 40 music and creative art spaces such as: Madame Show, Amazing Show, 05 AM, Pho Ben Doi, May Lang Thang, Lululola, Stop and Go Art Space, Binh Minh Oi... with the participation of many famous artists and singers from home and abroad. These spaces are not only places to enjoy art, but also become "meeting places", the purpose of visiting for many tourists when coming to the city of thousands of flowers.

However, to listen to music in Da Lat, visitors do not necessarily have to go to tea rooms or coffee shops. Because music has become the breath that covers the entire mountain town. The image of artists spontaneously playing music on the banks of Xuan Huong Lake in the cold at dawn is enough to make passersby suddenly stop, listen and immerse themselves in their emotions.

A photographer once shared: “I love the spontaneity and simplicity of the singers and musicians of Da Lat. Not only me but also the lucky audience present were surprised, delighted and then immersed in every word and voice. Da Lat really needs music corners like this to create the brand of Creative Music City recognized by UNESCO."

In October 2023, Da Lat City (old) officially joined the UNESCO global creative cities network as a Creative City of Music. Since then, the musical life in Da Lat has been breathed new life with a series of large-scale music performances and projects. This title is a source of pride and emotional sublimation for the local government and people, and at the same time, becomes a special plus point for tourists to choose Da Lat in their journey to explore nature. The new Lam Dong province after the merger, with its diversity of traditional culture imbued with national identity, will contribute to making the treasure of unique traditional music resonate and spread widely to the public from the domestic and international markets.

The liveliness of music is an important factor contributing to the promotion of the “smokeless” industry with great potential in Da Lat in particular and Lam Dong province in general. And this is the precious “magnet” that attracts more tourists to Lam Dong in the coming time.
