An Giang opens smart tourism portal

This is a significant event for the province's tourism sector , representing a major shift in both mindset and action, moving from traditional tourism development methods to the application of information technology to develop a smart, convenient, and efficient tourism industry that serves tourists, residents, and businesses.

An Giang is a locality with diverse and rich tourism potential, a land of cultural intersection between the Kinh, Khmer, Hoa, and Cham ethnic groups, with famous scenic spots, historical relics, unique culture, cuisine , and distinctive tourism products.

In recent years, An Giang's tourism industry has made significant progress and achieved important and very encouraging results. In 2023, An Giang welcomed approximately 8.5 million visitors; of which, more than 700,000 were overnight guests.

However, An Giang's tourism industry is also facing many difficulties and challenges. These include increasingly fierce competition from other provinces and cities nationwide in applying information technology to build smart tourism, meeting the growing demands of tourists.

The smart tourism portal (http://checkinangiang.vn) and the Checkin An Giang mobile application are the first steps in building and developing a smart tourism ecosystem in the digital transformation of the tourism industry, connecting all entities operating in the tourism sector of An Giang province.

Through the effective construction and operation of this tourism portal, we aim to gradually improve our capacity to meet the increasingly sophisticated experiential needs of tourists, providing them with smart features and advanced technologies such as augmented reality, 360 ^° images and video clips, and interactive 3D tourism.

The smart tourism portal (http://checkinangiang.vn) is also a favorable prerequisite for developing digital tourism, quickly accessing many new, modern, and attractive tourism trends, stimulating the growth and sustainable development of tourism in An Giang.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Phuoc, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, emphasized that the launch of the tourism information portal and smart tourism application on mobile devices will achieve many important results.

This will serve as a foundation to promote the province's tourism development in the coming period, meeting the requirements for tourism to become a key economic sector as set forth in Resolution No. 08-NQ/TW dated January 16, 2017, of the Politburo.

Mr. Le Van Phuoc suggested that the An Giang Provincial Trade and Investment Promotion Center coordinate with the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and other relevant units to effectively promote awareness and encourage the use of the service.

Relevant units will continue to improve tourism business operations, enhance quality, and ensure a green, clean, safe, and civilized tourism environment, contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of tourism in An Giang.
