An Giang celebrates the 137th birthday of President Ton Duc Thang

Delegates attend the ceremony to celebrate the 137th birthday of President Ton Duc Thang.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of An Giang Province Nguyen Thanh Nhan and other provincial leaders; former provincial leaders and relatives of President Ton Duc Thang attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy affirmed: At 92 years old and nearly 70 years of revolutionary activities, Uncle Ton devoted his whole life to the glorious revolutionary cause of our Party, our people and international friends. At the same time, he continued Uncle Ho's career, leading the country to complete liberation and development along the socialist path that the Party and Uncle Ho had chosen.

President Ton Duc Thang was a tireless devotee to the cause of national liberation, a noble symbol of class solidarity and national unity. Uncle Ton was an exemplary leader, a great and noble personality, with qualities of diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality, and the ability to unite and lead the people; a shining example for present and future generations to honor and learn from.

Even though he was President , Uncle Ton still maintained the simple lifestyle of an ordinary worker, doing everything for himself, not wanting to bother anyone for help. Taking on many important responsibilities for the country, for his family, Uncle Ton was an exemplary husband, father, and grandfather, very loving, loyal, and deeply devoted to his family, his wife, and children.

Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy emphasized that the celebration of the 137th birthday of President Ton Duc Thang is an opportunity for the entire Party, army and people to remember, express deep gratitude and pride for Uncle Ton's great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the homeland and the country. Thereby, she hopes and believes that the entire Party, army and people of An Giang will unite and overcome all difficulties and challenges; continue to promote studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle and follow the noble qualities of Uncle Ton Duc Thang: diligence, thrift, integrity, uprightness, impartiality and selflessness throughout his life; wholeheartedly and with all his might serve the revolution and the people; strive to successfully carry out assigned political tasks; join hands to build An Giang homeland to become increasingly prosperous, beautiful and civilized.
