Highlights of the OCOP Fair in the Vietnam-Cambodia Border Region 2025

At the end of 2025, the Vietnam-Cambodia border trade fair for OCOP products took place in the Xuan To Industrial Park (Tinh Bien Ward, An Giang Province) from December 10th to 16th. This event was part of a project to promote border trade and export goods to the Cambodian market, approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade , and was also one of the large-scale trade promotion activities of the border province.

According to the An Giang Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, the 2025 fair will bring together approximately 150 booths from various localities in Vietnam and Cambodian businesses. These include 100 booths from businesses in Vietnamese provinces and cities; 30 booths showcasing OCOP products and specialty products from communes, wards, and special zones within the province; and 20 booths from businesses in the three provinces of Takeo, Kandal, and Kampot of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Within the framework of the event, more than 10 businesses, cooperatives, and production and trading establishments from An Giang participated in connecting their goods with the Cambodian market. Notably, 8 businesses from the province have entered the contract negotiation phase with distribution partners in Cambodia.

Key products such as rice, fish sauce, palm sugar, honey, dried bananas, dried seafood, and processed agricultural products have received significant interest from businesses in neighboring countries.

Ms. Quang Xuan Lua, Director of the An Giang Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, assessed that the most valuable aspect of the fair was not only the on-site sales but also the opportunity for businesses to meet real partners, understand the needs of the Cambodian market, and open up long-term export opportunities. "Small businesses like ours really need such platforms to expand further," Ms. Lua stated.

According to the organizers' statistics, during the 7 days of the event, the fair attracted more than 50,000 visitors for sightseeing and shopping; the direct revenue of participating businesses is estimated at over 5 billion VND. This is considered a positive figure, especially since the fair did not take place during the peak tourist season as is usually the case.

From border trade to strategies for expanding into international markets.

Based on the practical results of the 2025 trade fair, the leaders of An Giang province believe that the potential for developing border trade remains very large, especially since the province possesses the advantage of an international border gate, directly connecting with the Cambodian market.

The practical results of the 2025 trade fair show that there is still enormous potential for the development of border trade.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, stated that the Tinh Bien border area is playing an increasingly important role in the province's border gate economic development strategy.

According to Mr. Phong, An Giang aims not only at short-term trading but also at building a sustainable trade ecosystem, linking trade with logistics, border tourism, e-commerce, and investment promotion.

"Trade fairs are not simply events to promote trade, but also opportunities to showcase the local image, attract investors, expand international cooperation, and create a stable market for local products," Mr. Phong emphasized.

An Giang's continuous organization of large-scale events in the border region also demonstrates its determination to effectively exploit the locality's unique geo-economic advantages.

Ready for the Tinh Bien An Giang International Trade Fair 2026

Following that success, from June 4th to 10th, An Giang will organize the Tinh Bien An Giang 2026 International Trade Fair, combined with a series of activities connecting trade between Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.

According to the plan of the An Giang Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, the highlight of this year's series of events is the Vietnam-Cambodia-Laos border trade connection conference, taking place on June 5th in Tinh Bien ward, with approximately 200 delegates attending, including representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, leaders of An Giang province and southern provinces and cities, Vietnamese businesses, and representatives from Cambodian and Lao agencies and businesses.

In addition to the conference activities, the organizing committee also implemented a program to promote the consumption of An Giang products on digital platforms through online livestream sales. Approximately 300 OCOP products and characteristic products of the province will be promoted on digital platforms in coordination with Viettel Post, TikTok Vietnam, and various KOLs and KOCs.

The highlight of this year's series of events is the trade networking conference for the Vietnam-Cambodia-Laos border region.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh, Deputy Director of the An Giang Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, said: “While in 2025 we focused on connecting with the Cambodian market, in 2026 we will expand further, aiming for regional trade linkages. This fair will combine in-person and online participation, helping businesses reach customers faster, reduce costs, and increase market expansion potential.”

According to Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh, the province's long-term goal is to develop Tinh Bien into an annual trading destination in the southwestern border region, a hub for international trade, tourism, and investment promotion activities.

Against the backdrop of a strong recovery in border trade, coupled with the strategic location and proactive efforts from the local government, the Tinh Bien An Giang International Trade Fair 2026 is expected to continue to create a new impetus for businesses, expand export opportunities, and contribute to boosting the province's economic growth in the new phase.
