The low pressure has strengthened into a tropical depression.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this afternoon (September 16), the low pressure area in the sea east of Luzon Island (Philippines) has strengthened into a tropical depression.

At 1 p.m., the center of the tropical depression was at about 15.3 degrees North latitude; 123.7 degrees East longitude, in the sea east of Luzon Island. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was level 6-7 (39-61 km/h), gusting to level 9. Moving in the Northwest direction at a speed of about 15 km/h.

It is forecasted that by 1 p.m. on September 17, the tropical depression will move northwest at a speed of about 15 km/h and is likely to strengthen into a storm. The sea area northeast of Luzon Island will have winds of level 8, gusting to level 10.

By 1 p.m. on September 18, the tropical depression was moving in a West-Northwest direction at a speed of about 15-20 km/h, possibly entering the East Sea. In the northeastern sea area of ​​the North East Sea, there were winds of level 8, gusting to level 10. Natural disaster risk level 3.

From the next 48 to 72 hours, the storm will move mainly in the West Northwest direction, about 15 km per hour, with little change in intensity.

It is forecasted that on the night of September 16 and on September 17, the North, Central and South East Sea (including the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa special zones), the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from South Quang Tri to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to An Giang and the Gulf of Thailand will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6-7 and waves over 2m high. The North and Central East Sea will have strong winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusts of level 8, waves of 2-3m high; rough seas.

From the night of September 17, the northeastern sea area of ​​the North East Sea will gradually increase to level 6, gusting to level 8; near the storm center, winds will increase to level 7-8, gusting to level 10, waves 2.5 - 4.5m high; rough seas.

Vessels operating in the above mentioned dangerous areas are susceptible to the impact of storms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.

From Hue city to Lam Dong and the South there is heavy rain.

Today (September 16), in the Central and Southern regions, there will be some places with heavy rain and thunderstorms. The rainfall from 7am to 3pm on September 16 was over 50mm in some places, such as: Khanh Son station (Khanh Hoa) 55.8mm, Go Cong station ( Dong Thap ) 54.6mm...

It is forecasted that in the evening and night of September 16, the area from Hue city to Lam Dong and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 15-30mm, locally heavy rain over 80mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (over 80mm/3 hours). During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Local heavy rain can cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.

From Thanh Hoa to Hue, it is cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms in some places in the late afternoon and at night, and sunny during the day. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperature is from 24-27 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature is from 30-33 degrees Celsius.

The South Central Coast will have scattered showers and thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow afternoon, with some heavy rain in some places. Southwest wind level 2-3. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature from 24-27 degrees Celsius, highest temperature from 31-34 degrees Celsius.

The Central Highlands will have scattered showers and thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow afternoon, with some heavy rain in some places. Southwest wind level 2-3. The South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow afternoon, with some places experiencing heavy rain. Southwesterly winds at level 2-3. There is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. The lowest temperature will be 24-27 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature will be 30-33 degrees Celsius, with some places experiencing over 33 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi has occasional showers and thunderstorms at night and in the morning, sunny during the day. Southeast wind level 2-3. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature from 26-28 degrees Celsius, highest temperature from 33-35 degrees Celsius.

Ho Chi Minh City tonight and tomorrow afternoon will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some heavy rain in some places. Southwest wind level 2-3.
