Just before the 2026 World Cup, Apple released an update to its Apple Sports app. This app tracks scores, statistics, and various other match-related content in real time.
The latest Apple Sports update adds World Cup tracking features, including viewing of group stages, brackets, and team lineups. The app also supports displaying scores on the Dynamic Island screen cluster or iPhone widgets, allowing users to quickly access information without opening the app.
In the details view interface, in addition to the score, users can also track match statistics, key events, detailed match developments, and league standings. However, compared to apps specializing in football information, Apple Sports lacks the ability to view detailed information about teams, players, leagues, or transfer news.
In return, this app supports tracking many other sports besides football, such as Formula 1, tennis, golf, basketball, and rugby.
In addition to feature updates, Apple also announced the expansion of Sports to 90 countries, including Vietnam. The app now supports over 170 countries and territories worldwide .
