In the early hours of May 20th (Vietnam time), Arsenal fans and the entire team received good news while watching the Bournemouth - Man City match. The draw of the game perfectly secured the championship title for the "Gunners".

After 37 rounds, Arsenal have 82 points, 4 points more than Man City, and this gap is insurmountable in the final round.

Receiving the championship news on TV might not be the "dream" celebration for the team and Arsenal fans.

But looking back at the whole journey, we can see that Arsenal did everything they could this season with only one goal: to win the championship. It was a rough, unattractive, and even... extremely difficult championship. And even without the exhilarating feeling, it was still a championship.

The last time Arsenal won the Premier League was in 2004. That was the season in which Arsene Wenger's team went undefeated, ultimately winning the legendary trophy.

After 22 long years of waiting, Arsenal fans are experiencing the same bitter disappointment that Liverpool fans went through during the 2000s and 2010s.

The peak of that 22-year streak was in the last three seasons, when Arsenal finished second in all three. They finished behind Man City in the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons, and behind Liverpool in the 2024-2025 season.

This season, there was a time when Arsenal had a nine-point lead over Man City. But then, as is often the case, Man City came back to take the lead.

In the 33rd round of the Premier League, Man City defeated Arsenal 2-1 at home. This result helped Man City narrow the gap between the two teams to just 3 points, with a game in hand.

From being far ahead of their rivals, Arsenal allowed Man City to regain control of their destiny in the title race. At that point, most fans were thinking about the scenario of finishing second for the "Gunners" for the fourth consecutive time.

But then the long-lasting nightmare finally came to an end. Arsenal first had Everton to thank, in their clash with Man City two rounds later.

Everton played with incredible courage, holding Man City to a 3-3 draw in this match. And from having their fate in their own hands, Man City found themselves in a passive position.

This was the perfect time for manager Mikel Arteta to implement his pragmatic style of football. From rounds 34 to 37, Arsenal won all their matches, and three of those were with a 1-0 scoreline.

Throughout the season, Arsenal had 8 wins with a 1-0 scoreline. This statistic shows that it is a record for the number of wins with that minimal scoreline in the Premier League over the past 20 years.

Arsenal did everything to win, to become champions, and they succeeded. In matchday 37, Man City stumbled once again, officially handing the championship to Arsenal one match early.

Winning a championship on TV isn't exactly a dream championship in terms of emotional impact. But as mentioned, it's still worthwhile because Arsenal fans have waited a full 22 years.

Not to mention, Arteta's team has played a highly controversial style of football this season. From their negative defensive play and the controversial swarming of the goalkeeper during corner kicks, to their time-wasting tactics and fouls...

Arsenal have endured considerable criticism for that rough style of football. It goes against the elegant philosophy established by "Professor" Arsene Wenger.

But when they win the championship, everything will be forgiven, and all the ridicule will end. The pressure of waiting 22 years. The pressure of so many bitter defeats has forced Arteta and his team to play in the most pragmatic way possible.

From now on, Premier League history will not remember the rough or flamboyant style of play, but only celebrate the champion of the 2025-2026 season.

Arsenal officially clinched the Premier League title after a 22-year wait, securing their 14th English league title in the club's history and ushering in a promising new era.

Winning the Premier League in the 2025-2026 season would be Arsenal's 14th English title. The "Gunners" would further solidify their position as the third most successful club in the league.

Liverpool and Man United lead with 20 titles each, followed by Arsenal, then Man City (10), Everton (9), Aston Villa (7), Chelsea, Sunderland (6 each)...

Under manager Mikel Arteta, this is only Arsenal's second official trophy after the FA Cup in 2020.
