According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Sydney, the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has issued an urgent recall warning for two popular dietary supplement products under the Nature's Own brand after discovering the potential presence of glass fragments inside the product containers.

The TGA emphasizes that any glass fragments (if present) are not inside the pill itself, but may be present in the bottle, increasing the risk of injury during use.

The two products being recalled are Nature's Own Glucosamine Sulfate with Chondroitin (320 tablets), batch number 1662937, with an expiration date of April 2028, and Nature's Own Magnesium Glycinate 1150 mg (300 tablets), batch number 1665576, also with an expiration date of April 2028.

These two products are distributed by Sanofi Consumer Healthcare (part of the Sanofi group) and will be widely available in Australia from May 7, 2026.

The product is available at many major retail chains and pharmacies across Australia, including Chemist Warehouse, Priceline Pharmacy, TerryWhite Chemmart, independent pharmacies and health food stores, some supermarkets and online retailers.

According to the TGA, using products from the affected batches could cause injury when opening or handling the bottles, with the risk of being cut by glass shards.

In the worst-case scenario, accidental ingestion could have health consequences. The TGA confirms that the issue is currently limited to specific batches and does not affect all other Nature's Own products on the market.

Consumers using these two products are advised to stop using them immediately if they belong to the affected batch, carefully check the batch number on the back of the bottle, return the product to the place of purchase for a refund, and contact the manufacturer for recall assistance.

According to the TGA, this is a preventative recall aimed at ensuring consumer safety, especially for products commonly used daily such as dietary supplements.

Around the same time, the Food Standards Australia–New Zealand (FSANZ) also announced a recall of Allen's iNSiDE OUTS 130g candy, with an expiration date of June 30, 2027, and batch codes 6072T941, 6073T941, 6074T941, 6075T941, 6085T941, 6086T941, and 6088T941, due to the discovery of "foreign objects" – plastic fragments – in certain batches.

This is a popular type of candy widely sold in major supermarkets across Australia such as Coles and Woolworths, independent stores like IGA, convenience stores, and petrol stations.

FSANZ warns that consuming the product may pose a risk of injury if foreign objects are present, depending on their size and level of contamination.

Consumers are advised not to use products from the affected batch, to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund, and to contact a healthcare facility if any unusual symptoms or health concerns occur.

According to the manufacturer, the incident was determined to have stemmed from a equipment malfunction at a processing facility, resulting in some small pieces of plastic potentially breaking off during the manufacturing process.

Allen's-Nestlé, the company that owns the brand, stated that the incident affected only a small quantity of products. The company assessed the risk to consumers as low, but still proceeded with a large-scale recall as a precautionary measure.

A representative from Allen's stated that upon discovering the issue, the company promptly notified regulatory authorities and retail outlets, and initiated a product recall to ensure consumer safety.

This is a preventative recall aimed at ensuring food safety nationwide and minimizing any potential risks to consumers in Australia.
