Many Vietnamese businesses have increased productivity, built more differentiated experiences, and accelerated innovation thanks to AWS technology solutions.
AWS bridges the gap for Vietnamese businesses to "accelerate".
A recent IDC report indicates that 70% of organizations in the Asia- Pacific region have begun exploring and committing to investing in AI technologies that will generate revenue for their businesses.
Emmanuel Pillai, Director of Training & Certification, AWS ASEAN, commented: “This is also true in Vietnam. AI generation is now delivering tangible results for business leaders and playing a transformative role across all sectors of the country.”

In recent years, AWS has invested hundreds of millions of dollars globally, providing free cloud computing skills, AI skills, and low-cost training courses. AWS is committed to training more than 29 million people worldwide in cloud skills by 2025.
“But we finished ahead of schedule,” Emmanuel Pillai revealed. Currently, the global cloud computing solutions provider has trained 31 million cloud-skilled workers. In Vietnam alone, AWS has trained over 50,000 cloud-skilled workers through three approaches: focusing on training personnel with AI generation skills, cloud computing, and cloud-based technologies.
Mr. Duong Ngoc Toan, Head of Cloud Computing at FinX and HDBank, shared: “At HDBank, we view cloud computing not only as a technology but also as an effective tool to accelerate innovation programs and improve workflows and internal processes.”
With the support of AWS, HDBank has accelerated its product development process. Using technologies and support from AWS, HDBank has developed highly reliable systems that enable seamless and secure financial transactions.
For example, the time required to develop a product is now about 40 to 60% faster than it used to be.

As one of the participants in the AWS First Cloud Journey cloud training program, Nguyen Tran Quang Nguyen, a cloud engineer and DevOps specialist at HDBank, achieved results that exceeded expectations.
Nguyen graduated from university with a degree in aerospace engineering, but he changed his mind when he realized the great opportunity in cloud computing unfolding in Vietnam. Driven by a passion for new technologies, through research and learning, Nguyen became a member of the First Cloud Journey community – a community providing members with comprehensive knowledge about cloud computing and automation, led by AWS.
Through the AWS First Cloud Journey program, which provided completely free training, Nguyen acquired the necessary knowledge to pass the AWS Certification exam and had the opportunity to work at HDBank as a Cloud Engineer. AWS First Cloud 2023 was the "key" to Nguyen securing this job at HDBank.
His colleague, Nguyen Huy Dinh, a Cloud Data Engineer at HDBank, added: “The power of cloud computing in the Big Data field is undeniable. With just a few steps, engineers trained by AWS have the infrastructure to process millions of data streams from various sources using only an Amazon EMR or AWS Glue service. All the knowledge I learned from the AWS First Cloud Journey program can be directly applied to my work at HDBank.”
Commitment to continued partnership
Sharing his plans to support Vietnamese businesses in the context of a digitalized economy, Emmanuel Pillai affirmed: “With an initial achievement of training over 50,000 engineers, we are committed to continuing to train Vietnamese organizations and businesses in AI generation and cloud computing on their digital transformation journey, aiming to surpass this number soon.”
At the recent AWS Cloud Day Vietnam event in Hanoi, AWS also announced that two Vietnamese startups, AI Hay and Kompato AI, have been selected by AWS for development support. The two companies will receive AWS credit equivalent to $1 million to build, train, test, and launch their AI generative solutions.

The program lasts 10 weeks at Amazon's headquarters in the US. Upon completion, the two startups will be able to build a complete product and showcase it at one of the company's biggest startup events, re:Invent, later this year.
The selection of startups is part of AWS's $230 million plan to accelerate global AI application development, focusing on early-stage startups. This year, AWS supported 80 companies from over 4,700 applications from 129 countries, with three projects selected from Southeast Asia alone, two of which are from Vietnam.
According to Priya Lakshmi, AWS ASEAN Startup Business Director, startups like AI Hay are leading a wave of transformation, pushing the boundaries of AI and bringing innovative new solutions to the market.
AI Hay is a social network designed in a question-and-answer format, using AI-generated responses to provide users with answers. According to its founders, the product utilizes large language models and is customized to Vietnamese culture. Meanwhile, Kompato AI, part of Trusting Social, is considered a pioneer in applying AI to account management platforms for consumer lending organizations.
Tran Duc, CEO of AI Hay, shared: “Having AWS support can help the company accelerate its AI development process and elevate its solutions.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Nguyen An Nguyen, CEO of Kompato AI, stated: “Participating in the AWS support program is an opportunity to showcase how generative AI can create innovative new approaches. This program also helps Kompato AI expand its solutions to the Asia and Americas regions.”
