Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh was awarded the Romesh Chandra Peace Prize.

At the Romesh Chandra Peace Prize award ceremony, Pallab Sengupta, President of the World Peace Council, emphasized that Nguyen Thi Binh is one of the most inspiring figures in the global movement for peace and independence.

On the morning of November 18th, in Hanoi , the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the All India Peace and Solidarity Organization (AIPSO) jointly organized the Romesh Chandra Award ceremony for Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, former Central Committee member of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and Honorary Chairperson of the Vietnam Peace and Development Fund (now the Vietnam Peace and Development Council), for her significant contributions to the cause of international peace and solidarity.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pallab Sengupta, Secretary of the National Council of the Communist Party of India, President of the World Peace Council, and Member of the AIPSO Presidium, emphasized that Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh is one of the most inspiring figures in the global movement for peace, independence, and social justice. Her name has shone brightly in the heroic history of Vietnam's struggle.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh was also a key negotiator for the Provisional Revolutionary Government at the Paris Peace Conference. She demonstrated the courage and dignity of Vietnamese women before the world, speaking out not only for the aspirations of the Vietnamese people but also for all those who fought against imperialism and for peace.

"Today, AIPSO is honored to recognize Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh for her immense contributions to the cause of peace and international solidarity. On behalf of AIPSO and the peace-loving people of India, I extend my warmest greetings to Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, an outstanding daughter of Vietnam, a global symbol of peace and human dignity. Here, we also celebrate the enduring friendship between the people of India and Vietnam, forged from shared struggles and strengthened by mutual respect," Mr. Pallab Sengupta emphasized.

Expressing her sincere and profound gratitude to AIPSO, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh stated that this is not only AIPSO's recognition of her personally, but also an appreciation and tribute to the collective efforts of those working in people-to-people diplomacy at the Vietnam Peace Committee and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.

"I am deeply honored and moved to receive the Romesh Chandra Peace Prize, named after the world's outstanding peace activist who dedicated his life to the international peace movement, opposing war, promoting justice, and fostering solidarity and friendship among nations. I sincerely thank you, my comrades, who have always stood alongside the Vietnamese people in the cause of peace and friendship among nations," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh.

Also on November 18th, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and AIPSO jointly organized the Romesh Chandra Award Ceremony for Mr. Uong Chu Luu, former Central Committee member, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and Chairman of the Vietnam Peace Committee; and Mr. Tran Dac Loi, former Standing Deputy Head of the Central Committee's Foreign Affairs Department, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Peace Committee, and Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Peace and Development Fund (now the Vietnam Peace and Development Council) for their outstanding contributions to building and promoting the international peace and solidarity movement.

Thanking AIPSO for their trust and recognition, Mr. Uong Chu Luu stated that receiving the Romesh Chandra Peace Prize is not only a great honor and encouragement for him personally, but also a profound reminder of the responsibility each person must bear in today's era, when peace is facing serious challenges from war, conflict, inequality, and violence.

Mr. Uong Chu Luu also affirmed that in the coming time, the Vietnam Peace Committee will steadfastly fulfill its mission. It will continue to promote people-to-people diplomacy, foster friendship and solidarity between the Vietnamese people and international friends, and actively contribute to the common efforts of the international community to build a civilized, just, and sustainably developed world.

The Romesh Chandra Award, established by AIPSO, is named after Romesh Chandra, Honorary President of the World Peace Council, a shining symbol of the international peace movement, a steadfast fighter who dedicated his life to the ideals of peace, against imperialism, and fostering friendship among nations.

Mr. Romesh Chandra was also a loyal friend, always standing side-by-side with the Vietnamese people, actively mobilizing progressive movements and peace-loving forces worldwide to support the Vietnamese people's struggle for independence and freedom.

The Romesh Chandra Peace Prize was established to commemorate the life and work of Romesh Chandra, honoring his extraordinary contributions to the international peace movement; to recognize individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to promoting peace and strengthening international solidarity; to acknowledge the dedication and tireless efforts of peace activists; and to inspire future generations to continue contributing and spreading the noble values ​​of peace, independence, freedom, and friendship among nations.
