Present at the Minh Dam Regiment training ground ( Ho Chi Minh City Command), we clearly felt the atmosphere of enthusiasm, urgency, discipline, and determination to train well and rigorously in each unit. At Company 5, Battalion 445, during the shooting practice session to destroy airborne targets, each command was decisive, each movement precise and neat, and the coordination between the units was tight and flexible.
However, the specific nature of 12.7mm anti-aircraft machine gun training carries inherent safety risks and disciplinary violations. Therefore, the platoon officers promptly reiterate safety rules to the soldiers and directly inspect each preparation stage and soldier's movements according to the established procedures. This is one of the effective measures implemented as part of the "Three Best Units" model at the unit.

Directly inspecting the troops' training, Lieutenant Colonel Doan Thanh Tuan, Commander of the Minh Dam Regiment, emphasized: “To ensure the model becomes truly effective, in 2026, the Regiment's Party Committee will issue a specialized resolution, specifying targets that closely match the mission; clearly assigning responsibilities to each Party committee, commander, and officer. The results of implementing the model will serve as the basis for evaluating and ranking officers and Party members at the end of the year. Therefore, each officer will proactively develop practical measures for themselves.”

To fulfill its political mission effectively, the Regiment focused on improving the quality of training and combat readiness. Training content was organized in a practical manner; field marches and exercises in complex conditions were intensified; and emphasis was placed on infantry tactics and coordination, as well as combat preparation. Training methods were innovated to be more visual, practical, and seamlessly integrate theory with practice.
Captain Phan Thanh Thuan, Company Commander of Company 5, Battalion 445, shared: “We focus on training starting from the specific actions of each soldier and each squad. We classify soldiers by skill level, assign mentoring tasks; maintain self-training hours; officers must closely monitor, guide, immediately address shortcomings, and promptly encourage the troops.”

To achieve the highest level of discipline, along with the innovation of political and legal education , the unit maintains a tradition of democratic dialogue; and strengthens the monitoring and prediction of ideological trends. Squad officers keep a log of ideological developments; they proactively meet with, discuss, and immediately resolve any issues faced by soldiers. In particular, the unit focuses on organizing thematic activities and education on safety and discipline; guiding soldiers in identifying and filtering harmful and toxic information and the causes that easily lead to disciplinary violations. Each training module, especially live firing and exercises, must be meticulously prepared and checked multiple times by all levels before implementation. Warehouses, weapons, and equipment must be strictly managed according to regulations; guarding, fire prevention and control, and traffic safety are regularly and strategically inspected.
There are many measures to build a comprehensively strong unit, but the specific actions in the "Three Best Units" model at the Minh Dam Regiment have become a breakthrough for each officer and soldier in improving training, combat readiness, building a regular army, and cultivating discipline, aiming to maintain and promote the Emulation Flag of Military Region 7, building a unit with excellent training, strict discipline, and high combat readiness.
