Floods on rivers continue to recede, floods on Red River below alert level 2

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 8:00 p.m. on September 12, the flood on the Cau River ( Bac Ninh province) peaked at 7.79m (1.49m above alert level 3), 0.05m below the historical flood level in 1971 (7.84m) and is slowly receding.

Floods on the Thai Binh River (Hai Duong City) are slowly receding. Floods on the Hoang Long River (Ninh Binh Province) at Ben De peaked at 4.93m (0.93m above alert level 3) at 7pm on September 12 and are slowly receding. Floods on the Thuong River (Bac Giang Province) are slowly receding. Floods on the Red River ( Hanoi City) are receding.

Floods on Luc Nam River ( Bac Giang province) are receding slowly.

Water levels at 1:00 a.m. on September 13, on rivers as follows: on Cau River at Dap Cau is 7.74m, above alert level 3: 1.48m; below historical flood level in 1971 (7.84m): 0.06m.

On Thuong River at Phu Lang Thuong, it is 7.06m, above alert level 3: 0.76m; on Luc Nam River at Luc Nam, it is 6.32m, above alert level 3: 0.02m; on Hoang Long River at Ben De, it is 4.88m, above alert level 3: 0.88m; on Thai Binh River at Pha Lai, it is 6.17m, above alert level 3: 0.17m; on Red River in Hanoi, it is 10.50m, at alert level 2.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that in the next 12 hours, the flood on the Red River in Hanoi will drop below alert level 2; on the Luc Nam River drop below alert level 3; on the Cau River at Dap Cau, the Thuong River at Phu Lang Thuong, the Luc Nam River at Luc Nam, and the Hoang Long River at Ben De will continue to drop but remain above alert level 3.

In the next 12-24 hours, floods on Cau River, Thuong River and Hoang Long River will continue to recede but remain above alert level 3; Luc Nam River and Thai Binh River will continue to recede but remain above alert level 2; Red River in Hanoi will fall below alert level 1.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that in the next 24 hours, water levels at many downstream stations of the Red River-Thai Binh River system will tend to change slowly, generally at high levels from alert 2 to alert 3, with some places above alert 3.

The process of flood drainage and reduction on the Red River system is likely to be slow, so flooding will continue for many days in low-lying areas, low-lying areas along the river, and alluvial areas outside the main dike in the following provinces/cities: Hanoi, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Hai Duong.

High flood levels lasting for many days can cause riverbank dykes to overflow, and landslides and embankments can seriously affect vulnerable riverbank locations in the following provinces/cities: Hanoi, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh.

Sunny in the North, heavy rain in the Central Highlands and South

The meteorological agency also said that from the afternoon of September 13 to September 14, the Central Highlands and the South will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 40-80mm, locally over 120mm (rain concentrated in the afternoon and night).

Experts warn that on the night of September 14 and 15, the Central Highlands and the South will have moderate to heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, with some places experiencing very heavy rain with rainfall ranging from 20-50mm to over 80mm (rain concentrated in the afternoon and at night). Heavy rain in the Central Highlands and the South is likely to continue in the coming days. Warning level 1 for natural disaster risks due to heavy rain, tornadoes, and lightning.

Heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.

Forecast for regions during the day and night of September 13: The Northwest region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places; thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

The lowest temperature is from 22-25 degrees Celsius, some places below 21 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature is from 30-33 degrees Celsius, some places above 33 degrees Celsius.

The Northeast and Hanoi capital will have scattered showers and thunderstorms; thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperature is from 23-26 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas it will be below 22 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature is from 30-33 degrees Celsius, in some places it will be above 33 degrees Celsius.

Provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien - Hue will have rain, moderate rain, locally heavy rain and thunderstorms; thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature from 23-26 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature from 29-32 degrees Celsius.

Provinces and cities from Da Nang to Binh Thuan will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, with some places having heavy rain; thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Southwesterly winds level 2-3. Lowest temperature from 24-27 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature from 31-34 degrees Celsius.

In the South, there will be rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms at night, locally heavy to very heavy rain, then showers and thunderstorms in some places; in thunderstorms there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. West to Southwest wind level 2-3. Lowest temperature from 24-27 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature from 30-33 degrees Celsius, some places above 33 degrees Celsius./.
