On May 22nd, at the Kinh Bac Cultural Center, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province organized a conference to implement the collection of DNA samples from relatives of unidentified martyrs.

The conference was attended by leaders of Bac Ninh province, representatives of the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order (C06) of the Ministry of Public Security , leaders of departments, agencies, and localities, and representatives of the families of unidentified martyrs.

According to statistics, there are still approximately 200,000 remains of martyrs nationwide that have not been collected, scattered across the southern provinces, and in neighboring Laos and Cambodia; more than 300,000 remains of martyrs have been collected and buried in cemeteries but lack information.

Over the past period, the Bac Ninh Provincial Police have actively coordinated with relevant agencies to review and update information on 6,286 martyrs whose graves have not been identified, and information on their remains for 12,572 relatives who need to have DNA samples collected in the province.

Among these, Department C06 will support the collection of DNA samples for 118 cases involving mothers of martyrs, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and relatives of 63 martyrs whose identities have not yet been determined; and for 12,454 cases involving relatives of martyrs whose implementation is funded by the local authorities.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, Ngo Tan Phuong, affirmed that the policy of conducting DNA analysis for all relatives of martyrs whose information has not been identified, in order to create a large database of martyrs' relatives' DNA for comparison and searching for information on the remains of unidentified martyrs, is a meaningful act, demonstrating the nation's tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source," and "repaying gratitude" for the great contributions of the heroic martyrs.

Emphasizing that collecting DNA samples for the relatives of martyrs is a more favorable starting point in the journey of searching for and identifying the martyrs as soon as possible, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Tan Phuong requested the Department of Internal Affairs, the Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities, especially communes and wards, to continue to pay attention to directing functional units to closely coordinate with the Police in collecting and updating information on the relatives of martyrs, effectively serving the work of collecting DNA samples, enriching data, and supplementing the gene bank of martyrs whose information has not yet been identified.

The Department of Internal Affairs, in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Ninh province and the Provincial Police, is advising the Provincial People's Committee to mobilize resources and expedite the collection of samples for the remaining cases, striving to complete the identification of 6,286 martyrs in the province as soon as possible.

On this occasion, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Tan Phuong and provincial leaders presented 72 gifts to representatives of the families of unidentified martyrs who participated in the sample collection.

GeneStory Joint Stock Company organized sample collection for 72 individuals, who are relatives of 26 fallen soldiers, right in the meeting hall. For the remaining cases, due to the health conditions of the fallen soldiers' relatives preventing them from traveling, the company will organize sample collection at their homes.
