Discuss solutions to improve the quality of rice and rice seeds

(CT) - On September 4, in Can Tho City, the Vietnam Rice Industry Association coordinated with the Vietnam Seed Trade Association and related units to organize a "Symposium on scientific solutions to improve the quality of rice and rice seeds".

Every year, our country produces rice on an area of ​​about 7.1-7.2 million hectares, the demand for rice seeds is about 570,000-580,000 tons. With the participation of many institutes, schools, seed centers and many units and enterprises in research, selection and production of seeds, many new high-quality rice varieties have been created for production, contributing to improving the quality of rice products for domestic consumption and export. Institutes, schools, enterprises and related units have increased the application of new technologies in seed production such as biotechnology, gene technology, cell technology, artificial intelligence (AI) to control the quality and purity of seeds... Thereby, increasingly meeting the requirements of quantity, quality and variety of seeds for rice production towards high quality and low emissions. However, seed production and application of new technology in rice seed production still face difficulties, seed production costs are high and rice seeds sold on the market do not guarantee quality and purity...

At the workshop, delegates were updated and provided with information on the current status of rice production and research and production of rice seeds in our country. Technologies and development orientations, application of technologies in seed production, as well as technologies for inspection and certification of rice seed purity were introduced. Information on the application of AI, along with post-harvest and processing technologies to ensure the quality of seeds and commercial rice. Delegates also exchanged, discussed and proposed solutions to overcome difficulties and strengthen links and cooperation between relevant parties to promote research and application of new technologies in the development of rice seed production and management of rice seed quality...

Leaders of the Vietnam Rice Industry Association and the Vietnam Seed Trade Association signed a memorandum of cooperation.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Rice Industry Association and the Vietnam Seed Trade Association signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and coordination in research and production, improving the quality of rice seeds and rice, and developing the Vietnamese rice industry.
