The entire land area for the Long Thanh International Airport (Long Thanh International Airport) Investment and Construction Project (hereinafter referred to as the Long Thanh International Airport Project) Phase 1 has been cleared and handed over by Dong Nai province to relevant units for the construction of project components .

For the remaining area of the project, which is approximately 5,000 hectares, Dong Nai province is also making efforts to complete land clearance by July 2023.

Event - Dong Nai: Over 2,500 hectares of land handed over to the Long Thanh International Airport Project.

Dong Nai province has completed the handover of the entire area of over 2,500 hectares for the first phase of the Long Thanh International Airport Project.

The Long Thanh International Airport construction project covers a total area of approximately 5,000 hectares. Phase 1 of the project covers more than 2,500 hectares.

Officially launched at the end of 2017, Dong Nai province has now completed the handover of the entire land area for phase 1 of the project to the relevant units.

According to Mr. Le Van Tiep, Chairman of the Long Thanh District People's Committee, the entire 1,810-hectare area for the first phase of Long Thanh Airport construction and the 722-hectare reserve land area have been cleared and handed over to the relevant units.

In fact, given the large area of land to be acquired and the complex land records, the completion and handover of the entire site for phase 1 of the project demonstrates the tremendous efforts of the units involved in land acquisition, compensation, support, and resettlement.

The Long Thanh International Airport project was planned and constructed more than 20 years ago.

Therefore, with land data sources that are over 20 years old and contain numerous inaccuracies compared to the actual land use situation during land acquisition, land clearance work faces many difficulties and challenges.

According to the Long Thanh District People's Committee, due to the long waiting period, land data in the project area has not been updated or supplemented, leading to widespread errors regarding the origin and current land use status.

For example, in the period before 2003, land ownership certificates issued to citizens were usually handwritten instead of printed as they are today.

During that time, the technology system for managing land data was also outdated, leading to frequent instances of duplicate or incorrect land allocation.

In addition to the more than 2,500 hectares of land needed for phase 1 of the project, Dong Nai province must continue to acquire and clear nearly 2,500 hectares of land for subsequent phases.

In the remaining area of the project, nearly 2,000 hectares of land are under the ownership of more than 4,500 households and individuals.

To date, Long Thanh district has completed the approval of compensation and support plans for more than 4,400 cases. At the same time, as of early July, Long Thanh district had handed over more than 102 hectares of land in this area to relevant units.

In order to strive to achieve the goal of completing all land clearance work for the Long Thanh International Airport Project by July 2023, the functional agencies of Long Thanh district are finalizing all related documents for the last 56 cases of the project whose compensation and support plans have not yet been approved.

According to the Long Thanh District People's Committee, of the last 56 cases of the project whose compensation and support plans have not yet been approved, the local authorities have publicly disclosed the plans for 21 cases.

For the remaining 35 cases, the compensation council is urgently focusing on completing the dossiers in order to publicly announce the compensation and support plan.

At a meeting with the Long Thanh District People's Committee and relevant units regarding the progress of land acquisition, compensation, and resettlement support for the Long Thanh Airport project in early July, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc requested Long Thanh District to focus on and accelerate the completion of relevant documents for the remaining cases of the project whose compensation and support plans have not yet been approved.

Dong Nai province aims to complete the entire project by July 2023.
