VFF Disciplinary Board takes action

The match between Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club and PVF-CAND in round 4 of the 2024-2025 first division ended with a violent scandal, when striker Nguyen Xuan Nam of PVF-CAND and defender Vu Van Son of the Ho Chi Minh City youth team fought in the tunnel after the match.

While Xuan Nam was beaten until he bled, Van Son was also injured. According to the camera footage, the two sides fought before being stopped by teammates and security personnel.

According to Thanh Nien Newspaper, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) will take action. The VFF Disciplinary Committee will receive the match supervisor's report today (November 15), before deciding on the penalty. VPF will also send relevant documents to VFF.

Xuan Nam told Thanh Nien Newspaper: "I know Son is still a young player, so on the field, they said "don't be rude". When I entered the tunnel, he sat there and cursed me. The players from the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Team tried to stop him, but he kept cursing. During the argument, I only used my hand to push Son's chest lightly, but he rushed in and punched me, surprising me. I didn't think Son would do that because he was a dozen years younger than me. When he punched me, of course I wanted to punch him back. After that, Son ran away and everyone rushed in to stop him. I don't want to say much more. There are cameras and surveillance there, so let everyone check."

Meanwhile, in the opposite direction, Van Son affirmed that after entering the tunnel, when he entered the locker room, Xuan Nam cursed him, asked to meet him outside the gate of Thong Nhat Stadium, and then pushed him. Son said that he pushed Xuan Nam away, but Nam punched him, so the 2003-born center-back punched him back.

Besides the fight between Xuan Nam and Van Son, the head of the PVF-CAND delegation also left an unsightly image when he received a red card for inappropriate words towards the referee. Most likely, the head of the PVF-CAND delegation will also receive a penalty.

Returning to the match between Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club and PVF-CAND at Thong Nhat Stadium on the evening of November 14, the two teams drew 0-0. PVF-CAND has 8 points after 4 matches, ranking third, 2 points behind the leading team Binh Phuoc . Ho Chi Minh City Youth Team has only 2 points since the beginning of the tournament, ranking eighth.
