(Dan Tri Newspaper) - "The city of Can Tho's innovation and development today has always been accompanied by the practical and positive contributions of the team of journalists," the Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee emphasized.
On December 6th, in Can Tho City, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association organized the conference "High-Quality Journalism in the Context of Digital Transformation to Meet the New Requirements of the National Journalism Award Regulations and Promote Sustainable Development Tasks in the Southern Region".

In his opening remarks at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, emphasized that through journalistic activities, the team of journalists in the Southern region has gradually matured in political acumen and professional ethics; continuously improved their professional skills and expertise; and reflected promptly, truthfully, and objectively all aspects of political activities, economic life, culture, and society, contributing to creating social consensus and strengthening people's trust in the leadership of the Party and the State.
"The Vietnam Journalists Association has been, is, and will always be faithful to its principles and objectives, representing the rights, aspirations, and legitimate interests of Vietnamese journalists, contributing to building Vietnamese journalism into a true voice of the Party and the State, and a forum for the people," Mr. Loi affirmed.
The leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association urged delegates attending the conference to promote a constructive spirit, actively participate in discussions, and contribute ideas. Specifically, they should focus on clarifying the role and responsibilities of journalism in promoting sustainable national development. From there, they should propose and recommend stronger solutions for the digital transformation of journalism and the development of diverse digital journalistic products within the current digital ecosystem.

Also at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, said that Can Tho has 71 agencies and representative offices of press agencies currently operating, with approximately more than 1,000 officials, reporters, and editors.
The head of the Can Tho City Party Committee affirmed: "The innovation and development of Can Tho City today has always been accompanied by the practical and positive contributions of the team of journalists."
"We hope that in the coming time, the press in the South in particular and the press nationwide in general will promote the development of multi-platform, multi-service, multi-media journalistic products; applying big data, artificial intelligence, and artificial intelligence in journalistic and media activities," Mr. Hieu said.
Many new features in the national journalism awards.
Besides presentations on the development trends of revolutionary journalism, the conference also introduced new points in the revised regulations of the 2024 National Journalism Award; and the procedures and regulations in evaluating and selecting high-quality journalistic works to participate in the National Journalism Award.
Specifically, the regulations for the Journalism Awards have many new points, especially the two new award categories: "Multimedia Journalism Awards" and "Creative Journalism Awards". These additions demonstrate a proactive approach to adhering to the new viewpoints and policies of the Party and State, and are in line with the practical realities and general development trends of journalism and media.
With that spirit in mind, the conference aims to introduce and share the new points of the revised 2024 National Journalism Award Regulations; experiences in applying digital transformation to create high-quality journalistic works; and necessary content for promoting sustainable development in the Southern region in particular and the whole country in general.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, the revised regulations for the 2024 National Journalism Award are a significant milestone, reflecting the strong progress of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism in the development of world journalism.
These regulations have set higher standards for the quality of journalistic works, requiring members, reporters, and journalists to constantly improve their professional skills, creativity, and innovation.
Later that same day, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association also held a conference to disseminate the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws on associations, and to improve the quality of advisory services in the Southern region's Journalists Association office.
Delegates attending the conference were also briefed on the Party's new guidelines and the State's policies and laws related to the organization of associations, such as: Decision No. 118-QD/TW of the Secretariat on promulgating the regulations on the organization and operation of mass associations assigned by the Party and State at the central level; and Government Decree No. 126/2024/ND-CP regulating the organization, operation, and management of associations.
In particular, this includes the Party's guidelines and the State's policies regarding the process of assigning tasks, providing financial support, or policies and regulations for those working in associations assigned by the Party and the State at the central and local levels.
