Recognizing that information technology infrastructure is the "backbone" of digital transformation, Bac Ninh Provincial Statistics Department has focused on investing in and upgrading its network and equipment systems. From primarily processing data manually, the internal network is now seamlessly connected from the central level to the provincial and local levels; a combination of physical and virtual servers has been put into operation, effectively serving large-scale surveys.
In particular, 100% of civil servants and employees are equipped with high-configuration computers, broadband internet access, and are proficient in using specialized software. This is a crucial condition for the entire sector to transition from traditional working methods to a digital environment.

One of the most noticeable changes is the shift in data collection methods. Previously, surveys primarily used paper forms, which were time-consuming to compile and process. Now, most surveys have shifted to collecting data electronically via mobile devices and online declarations.
Investigator Bach Thi Thanh Huong (Kinh Bac ward) shared: “Using electronic devices helps us input data directly at the scene, minimizing errors and reducing compilation time. Information is updated instantly, making inspection and monitoring much more convenient.”
For businesses, switching to online declaration also brings many advantages. A representative from Bac Ninh Clean Water Joint Stock Company (Vu Ninh ward) said: “Previously, each time an investigation was conducted, we had to schedule time to work directly with the investigators, which was quite time-consuming. Now, businesses can proactively declare online, which is faster, more convenient, and reduces the pressure of coordination.”
Thanks to innovative data collection methods, the quality of statistical data has improved significantly. Data is controlled from the initial input, minimizing errors and considerably shortening processing and aggregation time. Beyond data collection, Bac Ninh Provincial Statistics Department is also actively applying technology in analysis, forecasting, and dissemination of statistical information.
Many modern, specialized software programs, combined with data visualization tools, enhance the quality of reports and statistical publications, better meeting the information needs of all levels and sectors. In particular, the synchronized implementation of online meeting systems from the central level to the provincial and grassroots levels has contributed to bridging distances and improving the efficiency of leadership and management.

The application of information technology has proven effective in practice. During the 2021 Economic Census, despite the complex Covid-19 situation and social distancing measures implemented in many localities, the provincial statistics office still completed the census on schedule and ensured data quality.
For the 2026 Economic Census, the synchronized application of information technology throughout the entire process, combined with artificial intelligence in determining industry codes, is expected to shorten the timeline by approximately 7 months compared to the original plan, while saving the state budget billions of dong.
A key highlight in the digital transformation of Bac Ninh's Statistics sector is the digitization of all archived paper documents by 2025. Alongside this, a micro-data warehouse from surveys and censuses is being built, gradually forming a centralized data system to effectively serve analysis, forecasting, and policy planning.
Following closely the Project on the Application of Information Technology in the State Statistical System for the period 2017-2025, with a vision to 2030, approved by the Prime Minister , the Provincial Statistics Department will continue to promote comprehensive digital transformation in the coming time. The focus will be on developing modern information technology infrastructure and strengthening the application of artificial intelligence and big data in statistical activities.
At the same time, the sector focuses on connecting and sharing data with departments, agencies, and localities; effectively exploiting administrative data; and researching the application of remote sensing technology and geographic information systems in data collection. Along with this, it aims to improve the quality of human resources and build a team of highly qualified statistical officers to meet the requirements of the digital transformation period.
With synchronized solutions, promoting digital transformation is contributing to improving the quality of statistical information, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and data security; thereby effectively serving leadership and management, and contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province in the new period.
