Typhoon No. 1 has suddenly accelerated and is rapidly approaching the mainland of our country.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at approximately 4 PM on July 17th, the center of Typhoon No. 1 was located at about 20.8 degrees North latitude and 111.6 degrees East longitude, about 400 km east-southeast of Mong Cai (Quang Ninh). The strongest winds near the center of the typhoon reached level 12 (118-133 km/hour), with gusts up to level 15.

NATIONAL CENTER FOR METEOROLOGICAL AND HYDROLOGICAL FORECASTING

Over the past 3 hours, Typhoon No. 1 has moved rapidly at a speed of 20-25 km/hour. Over the next 24 hours, Typhoon No. 1 will continue to move mainly in a west-northwest direction, traveling approximately 20 km per hour.

At approximately 4 PM on July 18th, the center of the storm was located at about 21.7 degrees North latitude and 107.5 degrees East longitude, over land in the northeastern part of Northern Vietnam, with wind speeds near the center reaching level 8, gusting to level 10. Afterward, Typhoon No. 1 moved at a speed of 20 km per hour in a west-northwest direction and weakened.

By 4 PM on July 19th, the storm's center was located at approximately 22.6 degrees North latitude and 103.6 degrees East longitude, over land in the western part of Northern Vietnam, and weakened into a tropical depression, which then continued to weaken and dissipate.

Due to the influence of typhoon No. 1, the northern part of the North East Sea region is experiencing strong winds of force 8-9, with winds near the center of the typhoon reaching force 11-12, gusting to force 15, and extremely rough seas.

In the northern Gulf of Tonkin (including Bach Long Vi and Co To island districts), winds will gradually strengthen to level 6-7, then increase to level 8-9, reaching level 10-11 near the storm's center, with gusts up to level 14, causing extremely rough seas.

On land, from early morning on July 18th, coastal areas from Quang Ninh to Thai Binh experienced increasingly strong winds, reaching levels 6-7, with winds near the storm's center reaching levels 8-9, gusting to level 12; the provinces of Lang Son, Bac Giang, and Bac Ninh experienced strong winds of levels 6-7, gusting to level 9.

Due to the influence of typhoon No. 1, from the night of July 17th to 19th, the northeastern region experienced heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall amounts generally ranging from 200 to 300 mm, and locally exceeding 400 mm; the northwestern region and the Northern Delta experienced heavy rain with total rainfall from 150 to 250 mm; Thanh Hoa and Nghe An experienced moderate to heavy rain, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain, with rainfall amounts generally ranging from 70 to 150 mm, and some areas exceeding 250 mm.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting advises caution against heavy rain causing urban flooding and warns of a high risk of flash floods and landslides in the provinces of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang , Ha Giang, Lao Cai, and Yen Bai.
