Ho Chi Minh City Grade 10 Exam: Some candidates still used unauthorized materials.

After the first day of exams, which included Vietnamese language and foreign language, the Ho Chi Minh City 10th grade entrance exam recorded two candidates violating exam regulations and using unauthorized materials.

At the end of the first day of the 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, reported that 603 candidates were absent from the Literature exam in the morning, while 611 candidates did not attend the Foreign Language exam in the afternoon.

Candidates in Ho Chi Minh City will take the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year on June 1st and 2nd.

Thus, the total number of candidates absent from the first day of the 10th grade entrance exam accounted for approximately 0.4%.

According to information from the Department of Education and Training, during the morning session of the first exam, Literature, at the exam centers of Ha Huy Tap Secondary School (Gia Dinh Ward) and Dang Tan Tai Secondary School (Phuoc Long Ward), several candidates fell ill during the exam and had to go to the medical room for 5 to 10 minutes. The exam centers have documented the unusual incidents. Because the cause originated from the candidates themselves, these cases were not granted extra exam time.

At the Dang Thuc Vinh Secondary School examination center (Dong Thanh commune), one candidate was found to be using a hearing aid in the examination room without notifying the examination center beforehand. The Quality Management Department of the Department of Education and Training requested the examination center to record the anomaly, while still allowing the candidate to continue using the device throughout the examination. The examination center was requested to ask the candidate to provide complete disability certification documents after the examination ended.

At the exam center at Kien Thiet Secondary School (Ban Co Ward), one candidate was observed frequently behaving erratically in the examination room, disrupting order. After the exam, the center recorded the incident and invited the parents to a meeting. If the candidate continues to behave similarly during the afternoon exam, they will be moved to a reserve room. Verification revealed that this candidate has an intellectual disability, but has not yet completed the procedures for obtaining a disability certificate as required by regulations.

During this afternoon's foreign language exam, some examination centers discovered that some exam papers had missing text on pages 2 and 3. The affected centers were instructed to open the backup exam papers and to prepare an incident report as per regulations.

This year's 10th grade entrance exam saw one student violate exam regulations during the literature exam and one student use unauthorized materials during the foreign language exam.

Most candidates were in a good mood after the English exam was over.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phong stated that, through inspection, security forces were fully deployed, on night duty, and gate duty were in accordance with regulations, and the examination process proceeded normally.

According to the Department of Education and Training, this year the city is changing the method of transporting exam papers and answer sheets for the 10th grade entrance exam to suit the largest scale of organization ever. Exam papers are now delivered to the examination centers one day before the exam, instead of being delivered early in the morning for each exam session as before. Answer sheets will also be collected on the last exam session, instead of after each exam day.

This is the first time Ho Chi Minh City has applied this transportation method to the 10th grade entrance exam because, after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City's exam organization scale has increased significantly, spreading across 168 wards, communes, and special zones.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training stated that the Ho Chi Minh City Police are coordinating to ensure absolute safety for all stages of exam question preparation, printing, transportation, and storage; and to protect exam centers, grading centers, and exam question printing areas during the 10th grade entrance exam.
