Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum hands over 2 war relics to MIA/Ministry of National Defense

On the afternoon of September 16, at Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa coordinated with relevant units to organize a ceremony to hand over war relics between Thanh Hoa province and the MIA Agency/Ministry of National Defense.

Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum handed over two war relics to representatives of the MIA Agency/ Ministry of National Defense .

Attending the ceremony were representatives of the MIA Agency/Ministry of National Defense; on the Thanh Hoa province side were leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Foreign Affairs, Provincial Military Command, Provincial Police and representatives of relevant departments and branches.

According to Decision No. 795/QD-SVHTTDL dated September 16, 2025 of the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa, the two handed-over relics include: Geneva Convention Identification Card and Identity Card of Mr. James Magnusson (with biography and photo of the relic) - a US soldier who died in the war in Vietnam.


Colonel Nguyen Van Hai, Deputy Commander of MIA Agency/Ministry of National Defense, spoke at the handover ceremony.

At the handover ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Van Hai, Deputy Commander of the MIA Agency/Ministry of National Defense, expressed his deep gratitude to the government and people of Thanh Hoa province for carefully preserving and preserving these relics over the years.

The handover of the relics is a testament to the joint efforts of both sides in closing the past, looking towards the future, and at the same time supporting the families of US veterans with more information to heal the wounds of war. This is also an activity to concretize the direction of the Vietnamese Government in humanitarian cooperation with the US in searching for and verifying information about US soldiers missing in action during the war.

At the ceremony, representatives of Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum handed over the above two relics to representatives of the MIA Agency/Ministry of National Defense.
