Lunar New Year is a time of year with high food consumption, especially meat, fish, eggs, confectionery, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, and oilseeds.
To meet market demand, many food production and business establishments have increased their production, trading, and import of food. Besides the often humid weather in the North and the hot weather in the South, these weather factors significantly affect the assurance of food safety and quality.
To ensure food safety during the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival of 2025, and to serve the people in celebrating the New Year and enjoying the Spring safely, the Central Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee on Food Safety has issued Plan No. 1751/KH-BCĐTƯATTP on ensuring food safety during the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival of 2025.

With the common goal of ensuring food safety in the production, processing, trading, and consumption of food; strengthening control and promptly preventing the production and trading of counterfeit and substandard food; ensuring the safety of food consumed in the market; and preventing food poisoning during the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival of 2025.
The plan was issued with several specific objectives, such as minimizing food poisoning incidents during Tet; strengthening inter-agency inspections from the central to the commune level, focusing on product groups that are consumed in large quantities during Tet and festivals and have high risk factors, food processing villages, provinces with border gates, and major cities.
The plan focuses on activities such as communication and inspection. Specifically, the Central Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee on Food Safety has established five inter-ministerial inspection teams to conduct inspections in 10 provinces and cities. Locally, inter-ministerial inspection teams have been established at all levels, from provincial to commune. The implementation period is from now until March 25, 2025, nationwide.
