Notably, minimally invasive surgery is one of the surgeries that minimizes damage to healthy tissue and abdominal wall while still achieving the goal of completely removing cancerous tissue and dissecting regional lymph nodes according to cancer principles. Nowadays, minimally invasive surgery is becoming one of the trends applied not only in benign diseases, but also in cancer diseases.
Therefore, it can be said that in cancer diseases, minimally invasive surgery has achieved a level of oncological safety, while improving the health of patients after surgery such as faster recovery, shortened hospital stay, reduced postoperative pain, especially aesthetic value.
At the workshop, besides exchanging knowledge and techniques on transvaginal laparoscopic surgery to remove the entire uterus, both adnexa and lymph node dissection to treat early stage endometrial cancer; minimally invasive surgery through natural cavities in cancer: history, present and future trends... and traditional techniques such as laparoscopy and open surgery.

The highlight of the workshop was the surgical demonstration session when Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Binh, Deputy Director of the Hospital and Dr. Le Tri Chinh, Head of the Department of Gynecological Surgery (K Hospital) successfully performed two transvaginal laparoscopic surgeries (vNOTES) for a 62-year-old female patient with menorrhagia-multiple uterine fibroids; and a patient with early-stage endometrial cancer.
The surgical team performed a total hysterectomy and complete pelvic lymph node dissection through the vagina - no abdominal incision, no external scars, quick recovery time and minimal post-operative complications.
The surgery was broadcast live to the conference hall, and delegates exchanged and discussed during the surgery, creating a lively, open and practical academic space.
