On July 28, Hue Central Hospital announced that its Cardiovascular Center had been recognized by the American Heart Association (AHA) as meeting "bronze standards" in the treatment of heart failure.
Earlier in 2023, the Cardiovascular Center participated in the AHA's program to standardize treatment quality. With modern equipment, advanced techniques, and the efforts of the team of doctors and nurses, the center was certified by the AHA as achieving "bronze standard" in the treatment of heart failure.
Leaders of Hue Central Hospital receive "bronze standard" certification in heart failure treatment from the American Heart Association.
With this achievement, the Cardiovascular Center of Hue Central Hospital is the first unit in the Central and Central Highlands region and the third unit in Vietnam to be recognized with American standards.
Currently, the Cardiovascular Center has four types of medications that have been proven effective in improving heart failure mortality rates. In addition, the center is equipped with many modern machines to treat the causes of heart failure, such as valvular heart surgery, pacemaker implantation, percutaneous coronary intervention, etc. If heart failure worsens, heart transplantation may be performed.
According to Dr. Nguyen Ta Dong, Deputy Director of the Cardiovascular Center and Head of the Cardiology Department (Hue Central Hospital), heart failure is the final consequence in the chain of cardiovascular diseases. From common diseases like hypertension and long-standing diabetes to severe and complex diseases like myocardial infarction, all can lead to heart failure.
In reality, treating heart failure patients is challenging, particularly in achieving the target dose (the dose that reduces mortality most effectively). Even in developed countries, the number of heart failure patients who achieve the target dose remains low.
"With the desire to improve the quality of heart failure treatment, the Cardiovascular Center has participated in the program to standardize treatment quality according to the American Heart Association standards. This is a prerequisite for the Cardiovascular Center to continue striving to achieve even greater accomplishments in the near future," Dr. Dong shared.
